Visited 8/10/2013 sunnyside7 took it to I Love Chicago! - Chicago Stadium - United Center Illinois - 12.39 miles  Visit Log

We were in the neighborhood today for the Girls Rock Extravaganza at the Bottom Lounge on Lake, where two of our grandkids performed. Amanda played drums in their band named Five Seconds Of Fame. Lorena's band was called Telly, and she played base guitar and sang.
After the show Jeanne and I dropped by at this venue and I signed the playbill... another great performance by Panther in the Den!

OK, another DNF to cross off my list.πŸ™‚ Today I went right up to the cache, but didn't see it until I got there. It was wedged in tight and deep, and bent out of shape. I pried it up a bit and got the cap off. The log sheet was surprisingly dry. After signing, I worked at it a while longer and finally extracted the container (It's the only way I could have gotten the lid back on). I put it back in the crack a few inches above it, so the next visitor will not have such an ordeal.
TFTC, always fun to do one like this while I'm still "young" and able. πŸ˜‰
I wanted to earn my Aug 1 souvenir with something memorable, and this fit the bill. I wish I had brought my camera. I had it in my hand as I was going out the door, then decided to leave it at home. I didn't want it to fall and break. (And the same goes for myself.)

  • a souvenir for my efforts (for finding a cache 1 day in a row)

I started getting a string of e-mails around 11:00 of new caches being published, so I started checking them for location. Too far....too far....too far. Then I checked one more...NOT too far, in fact we go there often. FTF possibility? Sure, just depends on where certain hounds are situated at the moment. Jeanne had just gotten home with the car, and agreed to get back in and go for a ride. No train delays, and soon we were driving up to GZ. Half expecting to run into a friend or two, we were the only ones there. I grabbed the cache and went inside the car to log it. The condition of the cute little logbook was an encouraging sign, and my nimble fingered spouse opened it....pristine!
😎 FTF just before 11:30 AM. 😎 Only being able to handle one thought at a time (and for the last half hour it was geocaching) I drew a blank on my favorite band. Maybe it's because I don't have a "favorite" band. So I just jotted down the first few that came to my mind. One of them was BS&T. (Now how could I have forgotten PP&M?) The choices may reveal my age, but I still think we had the best music of all. As for the most wonderful time of the year, I would probably have to disagree. I only hope the first week of August is better than the first week of July. Thanks Harleys Mom, for the fun morning. And my mother-in-law thanks you because she got an unexpected visit as soon as we finished here.

Found it with sunnysidesouth. A little steamy, a little buggy, but a nice walk and a very nice cache. Very cool patches inside, which didn't take up much room in that big old ammo can, so I emptied my swag bag in it, which lightened my load for the walk back to the car.
Hey, this coin is almost three years old. Doesn't seem that long ago when I was in Seattle.

  • the approach it was hot & steamy

  • their souvenir patch
  • our patch (I think I put it back in the can, along with my bug spray)

I already did this multi last November with Jeanne, but today came out with sunnysidesouth, maddfinder and his newbie friend to walk along with them on their quest of the cache. The "tour" of the grounds is pleasant in any season. We also enjoyed the First Division Museum, and the boys climbed up and down on every tank.

😑 We didn't find the cache (I suck at the easy ones) but we did find the ice cream.😎 So now we have two reasons to come back sometime.

  • these people look familiar... especially the first one
  • we didn't find the cache... but we found the ice cream
Visited 6/26/2013 sunnyside7 took it to Route 66 series {Gardner 2 cell jail} Illinois - 118.37 miles  Visit Log

It's 60 miles to Chicago, we've got a quarter tank of gas, half a bag of potato chips, it's our wedding anniversary, it's getting dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses. 😎

We could sure use $200 right now, but we did not pass GO. We went straight to this cache. (OK, maybe I went around in a few circles with my GPS first, and we played around a little bit next to GZ first) but this was a great place to get off the highway after driving in from Springfield, and about to cruise Rte 66 and the Red Carpet Corridor all the way to Wilmington.

  • But I'm innocent!
  • we gotta get out of this place

Visited 6/24/2013 sunnyside7 took it to The Road of Hullabaloo Missouri - 3.48 miles  Visit Log

We searched a bit until Don read a recent log on his phone, then found it after we came to the realization it might not be a typical hide . The logsheet was a soaking wet mass of pulp. I cleaned out the container and put a new logsheet in, after signing it.

  • let's check this out... and see what's all the Hullabaloo

Visited 6/24/2013 sunnyside7 took it to The 7 Guardian Angels - Barachiel Missouri - 8.67 miles  Visit Log

The lone DNF on this cache belongs to me, nearly six months ago when I really wanted to find it. Today I found it with my brother, in memory of our dear mother. Maybe she was watching us, along with Barachiel. I was in town this week for a more joyful occasion, my niece's wedding.
