Bamboo the Panda Travel Tag

We tried to stop by and search for this stash which I had solved a few days ago. The double bridge was one which I have wanted to show my mom; a place Laura and I have visited in the past a few times, and I keep having my head blown by this amazing technological marvel. Two active bridges, one on top of another, built to last, with such a wonderful history. It’s an amazing place. A mystery cace which is a bit further away, a traditional which is on one side, and the one which we found here half a decade ago — all of these caches celebrate this amazing engineering marvel. After one DNF, we stopped by this stash under the highway, on the other side of the double bridge. Here, in the dark, I did manage to find the stash after a bit of searching. Bit of a cliff under me, but I found the stash ok.

A memorial to a politician who dies near this spot 33 years ago, at a fast station along the highway was the next stop we made today. I found the stash without issue, and encountered a highway worker who was very very chatty. This was memorable in all the strange ways.

Well, after visiting one of the coolest gadget caches we’ve ever experienced, it’s going to be hard to find anything so memorable. We however keep going, and before Jihlava this is the second quick park & grab we made. Nice and easy!

This next cache was the only real target for today; a cache so amazing I don’t really have words. I have never really seen something so incredible as this; I’m not going to make comparisons as others have, as that doesn’t seem to be too fair. A mechanical gadget cache; there are no words for how much amazing effort went into creating something like this. It’s no wonder this cache listing has 92% favorite points; this was just amazing. I’ve had ambitions of creating mechanical gadget caches like this one, but even I would not have mustered up a myriad of ideas such as this. This seems like a real-life, outdoor escape room, and I just absolutely love it. It’s an honest shame we cannot give more than one 💙FP; I feel like I’d be happy to donate a hundred!

Being frosty and icy and all, it was a little hard to judge how much force was needed or not needed, in order not to break something, but the mechanics of it all were good enough in all weather. 

To back up a bit; I had noticed this stash during one of my filters as we were looking at caches to visit during our trip to the 9 cliffs with the parents. On the way there on Monday, we still didn’t have the cipher puzzle solved, but over the next few nights, Laura took one crack at it, and we weren’t 100% successful. On the second try, she put all her effort into it, and managed to memorize the characters to the point that she solved it in real time. Amazing! 

As we were departing our hotel and headed to Jihlava, this was the place to go. Laura’s parents in tow, we made it to the little village, and I was a little sad that they didn’t join us for this adventure, as I know Laura’s dad would be as fascinated as I was. When we got to the location and saw snow all around, I was a little worried with putting too much force in, but Laura had the magic touch and figured out the first step. After that, things went relatively quickly and without issue. We did spend about 20 minutes here; half of that time was admiring the amazingness, the other half was spent solving the field puzzle. But in what felt like too soon, we got the giant lock & lock container open, and were rewarded with the big and dry logbook. Though there’s 7 TBs in the inventory, only two are physically present, and we decided to take one with us back to Malaysia. Other than that, we made no trade. We inked our nick into the logbook, making this our 8289th overall find. I snapped a photo and returned everything up as we found it. 

Amazing amazing amazing. I would recommend this to anyone traveling; this is THE place to visit! 


Time to check out. Our time together is done for; and after a nice last breakfast at the hotel, we have plans to head to Jihlava for a short trip before our goodbyes.
