About This Item

Boot1.JPG

This boot is used to protect dog's feet in areas of debris. A company in Auburn, NY, which manufactures this boot offered this to us for a travel bug. They sent some of these boots to the Oklahoma Bombing and the World Trade Center Disaster for the Search and Rescue dogs. The original travel bug was never placed in another cache to continue its journey. We have brought this bug home in spirit and are sending out a replacement boot and copy tag. We have hopes that this one will not meet with the same misfortune.

Made a special trip for this one, somewhere around 80 miles round trip! Well worth it though. I've got a number of places I'm going to take this special bug so I may have it for a couple of weeks, but I'll be posting pics and a log and then I'll move it on. Thanks Hours Together for such a meaningful TB.

This is a very interesting TB. I took it to work to show everyone and made them guess what it was. 99% thought it was some type of holder for a cell phone. Only one person knew what it was. All enjoyed learning about it. I did not know any rescue dog owners but since I work in a medical facility I figured it was "close enough" and it was time to tour Texas. Thanks!

We were planning to drop this SAR travel bug in Colorado in a cache near our daughter to honor Heidi, Sharon's SAR dog, now unfortunately deceased. But the trip to Colorado has been postponed and I did not want to keep this bug too long--so I left it in a pleasant park where dogs and their owners take frequent walks--also saw a SAR "house" in the area. All the best, Grandma Nan

I will carry this for awhile in honor of Heidi, (now deceased) my daughter Sharon's wonderful Search and Rescue dog. Heidi, adopted by my daughter, after her owner died of cancer, continued her work in West Virginia while Sharon and her Hunter lived there. She spent the last part of her life in Nashville, TN, guarding, caring for and loving Sharon, her husband Hunter, daughter Alexis and the little Jack Russell terrior, Sitka. Younger grandaughter Talia never knew this wonderful dog--so I will carry this TB for a few weeks and likely take it to Colorado where they all now live when I go there.
