Just arrived at Richard B. Russell State Park and are now on the hunt for the geocaches and going to go for a hike to see Blackwell Bridge.

We had a lovely time on the tour learning about the previous owners and property itself. Nichols created the home using beautiful gothic architecture and the door was incredible made with gold baked between the layers in Italy! Dr. Hartman was innovative on farming and hydroelectric power.

We took a much harder route to this cache getting a workout😅. We are enjoying listening to the creek water on our hike. We traded for a Hilton Head wooden geocoin....how cool! This is the second geocache in Unicoi State Park and our 400th find.

It was a chilly camping night last night at Andrews Cove in Chattahoochee National Forest but we had the whole campground to ourselves and a lovely place by the stream. We came to Unicoi State Park since it was nearby. It is a very brisk hike this morning but lovely setting.

What a mighty hike it was in to visit the cache but we managed and enjoyed seeing the Covered Bridge as a bonus. We took the Wetlands Trail on the way back to see the beaver dam. Interesting to learn about the Hemlock Trees in Smithgall Woods State Park which used to be prevelant along the whole East Coast but now are only in Northern Georgia due to an insect that has demolished most.

It was interesting to learn in the museum that Georgia has some of the purest gold beating California even. Now on to our next State Park!

Left Don Carter State Park and heading on after time was spent geocaching and fishing in this State Park. Delighted to find a 2008 cache on the way to Dahlonega Gold Museum.

What a beautiful spot to be searching for a geocache! This was the last geocache for us to do in Don Carter State Park.
