Starting day 8 on the Thames Path. Last night, you spent the night in Abingdon. Home of more Turkish Barbers per capita than anywhere else in the U.K. (I assume.....). I'm not sure how a small town supports so many. The hotel put us in a room already occupied and in the confusion, I put my GPS down and it disappeared. Luckily it reappeared the next morning on the hotel bar. Phew. Off to Wallingford now, 22km away.

You've taken the train to Oxford and are joining me on Day 7 of my Thames Path walk. The Thames Path is a national long distance hike in the U.K. There are lots of geocaches on it but don't worry, I not dip you into all of them. Nothing more boring than a million pages of blank logs 0.1 mile from each other. CuteOtter is also joining us. Today we are headed to Abingdon, 16 km away. Nice walking weather, 17 c.

The in laws are about to return to Australia but we spent a last day with them at a Hamstead Heath. While they looked at the paintings in Kenwood House, You joined CuteOtter and me geocaching (of course). this is the headwaters of the Fleet River, London's largest underground river. It must have been very nice originally.

I don't dip Travel Bugs into DNFs but I'm making an exception here. Marc Bolan was a glam rock superstar and was killed her in a car accident. He was before my time but I know some of his songs. He was the lead singer with T-Rex. The monument is quite moving and has plaques not just for him but for other band members who also died needlessly. So this is a dip in case you are a T-Rex fan.
