There are lots of things that make Colorado special; but, I think most people would say that Colorado's natural beauty and opportunities to get outdoors rank at or near the very top of the list.

For many hikers and outdoors people, a major Colorado goal is to reach the top of all of Colorado's peaks that are higher than 14,000 feet or more. This is no easy trick! 14,000 feet is nearly three miles above sea level which means that the temp is cold, the air is thin, and you are going to be working hard!

Exactly how many 14,000 foot peaks there is a matter of some dispute. PaxCache has read that there are 53 but also read that there are 58. Who knows? And, once you get to 53, you might as tell go ahead and get the final 5 just to be on the safe side, right?
(Mount Meru, Arusha, Tanzania)
Once you have reached the top of all 53/58 you will have climbed some iconic and wonderfully named mountains including Mount Massive, Mount Harvard, Mount Lincoln, Quandary Peak (PaxCache feels like he has spent a whole lot of time sitting on that peak and wondering what the hell to do next), Mount Princeton, Mount Sneffels, Humboldt Peak (named for the extraordinary 19th century naturalist Alexander von Humboldt who is famous for his natural science research in the Andes among other things), Culebra (snake in Spanish) Peak, Democrat Peak (not to be confused with Socialist Peak which is the top of Mount Meru outside of Arusha, Tanzania in Africa), and, of course, Sunshine Peak.

This trackable would love to visit every 14,000+ peak in Colorado but, for now, would settle for just making it to Boulder.
