I took you to see history taking place today. We watched Queen Elizabeth II leave Buckingham Palace for the last time. Her coffin was followed by King Charles III, Prince William, and other members of the Royal Family. The crown around me was totally silent and the only sounds were the music from the band and the gun salutes each minute. Afterwards, I took you closer to Buckingham Palace to take your photo and saw Camilla, Catherine, Sophie and Meghan drive by. They did not follow the coffin up the mall. 👑

I had to check in on my friend’s house while they are away. Surprised a frog hiding amongst her strawberries. I extended my outing for some rainy caching in nearby Kingston with you. 🐸

A visit to Chelmsford in Essex for you today. I picked up a TB recently that wanted to achieve its goal there. Nice just walking around in the warm sunshine. First tinges of red on my climbing vine though. 🌤

I was a bit worried this event might be in the midst of all the activity surrounding the death of the Queen and the proclamation of the new King which was happening nearby at St James’ Palace. Surprising how few physical observances of what is happening are to be seen today. Yesterday, all the bus shelters had a remembrance poster but today they are back to ads for MacDonalds. Life goes on. 🤴🏻

Well this is a momentous time to be in London. Queen Elizabeth II died yesterday and King Charles III is the new monarch. The end of an era. Lots of people are likening their feelings to the death of their parent.

CuteOtter and I already had plans to visit the John Soame’s Museum, a very interesting and eccentric place that’s well worth a visit. ⬛️

I seem to have a lot of chores to do in the same part of London but on different days. This was a lovely virtual focussing on the Foundling Museum. In 1739, Thomas Coram (1668-1751) established a hospital to care for babies at risk of abandonment. He was appalled by the conditions children faced in London: though the city was a global powerhouse of industry and wealth, it was also polluted and disease-ridden. Child mortality rates soared. Each year, some one thousand babies were abandoned by parents experiencing extreme poverty or other terrible maladies. Between the 1740s and 1760s, mothers leaving their babies at the Foundling Hospital would also leave a small object as a means of identification. The hope was that they would one day be able to reclaim their child and the token was their proof of the relationship. 💔

Community Celebration Events coming think and fast now as everyone tries to jam them in (including me!). This one was in a lovely park near Victoria Station, London. 🚉

Visited 9/3/2022 Wombatwandering took it to Tunbridge Wells Walk 2 - # 5 Toad Rage South East England, United Kingdom - 29.7 miles  Visit Log

Decided to trek over to Royal Tunbridge Wells for a caching day out. The trains were on a go slow and kept missing the next connection. Frustrating. Found some good caches but missed a tree climb because our weighted thin rope got snagged. The gin and jazz festival was a good end to the day. 🧗🏻

Visited 9/1/2022 Wombatwandering took it to Space Invader (NOT 24/7. TB Hotel. High FP%!) London, United Kingdom - 1.64 miles  Visit Log

Cache maintenance day for me after my recent trip away. Got all that fixed and then headed to this fantastic UFO cache. If your owner is ever in London, this is a must find. 🛸

A visit to Westminster for you to find an Earthcache. Geoson goes to school here and knew all about the fossilised sea urchin. Pity he didn’t tell me before. 🪸
