About This Item

Coin "Face"

This coin should be with me most if not all of the time. I intend to use this to track my milage from this point (18 Oct 2006) forward. The Travel Bug "I Woont Tellieu" has decided that he can leave me now and is moving out on a new mission.

Retrieve It from a Cache 11/11/2006 GeekBoy.from.Illinois retrieved it from Memorial Wayside Wisconsin   Visit Log

I agree with ClickChik in that it does feel a little "weird" dropping a coin into a "virtual cache", and also in retrieving it from there. This was an excellent end to a short evening of caching, visiting a Veteran's Memorial on Veteran's Day. A nice benefit was that we were able to work things out such that this was also ClickChik's 150th find (and her third virtual, even though it was only my second).

After reading ClickChik's Log entry, I am shamefully reminded of some veterans in my life that I neglected to mention originally:
John Bloomfield-my late father (WW II)
Jack D Meadows-my late father in law
Clarence Bloomfield-my late uncle (WW II)
Robert Bloomfield-my uncle (not my brother, a long story there)
Ron Howard-my step father in law
Jack "Skip" Bloomfield-my cousin
Greg Steinbarger-my late brother in law

This cache wasn't in my PDA either, so I was not the happiest cacher in the woods, although I should not have been too unhappy, we (actually ClickChik) did actually find the cache. Perhaps it was because "I Woont Tellieu" decided that this was where he needed to part ways with me for a while. There were some scouts spending the night here, and there were definite signs of evil nearby, so he felt he needed to stay here to help protect them. He also has been telling me it was time for him to be returning to the woods.

Retrieve It from a Cache 11/11/2006 GeekBoy.from.Illinois retrieved it from WSQ Restin' in Waterford Wisconsin   Visit Log

A long time ago, this cache kept getting marked "found" by the Cachemate/GSAK combination on my PC. I learned that this was due to my using "Smart Waypoint Names", and that GSAK would re-generate the names on me after I moved my found caches out to a new database, so this one was getting flagged because the "new" Smart name matched the one that was on "Restin' in Salem". I got that fixed by switching back to using the "GCxxxx" codes as the waypoint names. In any case, this was our third find of the day, and I should have taken the hint from the previous problems with this waypoint. It was in my GPSr no problems, but it wasn't in my Cachemate on my new PDA (PocketPC). I had to rely on the electronic data from ClickChik, and from what I could remember from this cache visit.

Retrieve It from a Cache 11/11/2006 GeekBoy.from.Illinois retrieved it from The Great Mukwonago DAM Wisconsin   Visit Log

After finishing her Flyball class we decided to cache in/near Mukwonago to start. I didn't have many caches from this are in my GPSr or PDA because they are outside the limits of my Pocket Queries, so we went from the info the ClickChik had. We had a more difficult time finding parking than finding the cache. On the way out, we decide to go a different way to avoid some of the goose poop in the grass.

On our way to Mukwonago (if I type that enough, I will learn how to spell it ;) ) ClickChik and I decided to log a cache. We wanted to find "Wedgee Anyone?" but there were 2 police cars in the parking area (and one other car) was we drive by, so we changed our minds quickly. We found this cache nearby in out GPSr's and decided to go for it. We got there shortly after noon and after searching a while the red car we saw near "Wedgee Anyone?" pulled up and another cacher got out. We introduced ourselves (although I forgot to write his name down so I can't remember it now I think it was Bluegrass Man). He was on his way home to Iowa after visiting his family in Kenosha. We scoured the park all over. Our 4 GPSr's eventually put us all within about 10 feet of each other, and very near a small toy in the sand pit. I checked that thing and couldn't find anything. The other two were drawn to a larger toy about 15-20 feet away. After I finally decided that I had completely checked the smaller item, I started searching the larger one. They were laying on the ground searching under the item when I started to chuckle, then to laugh. This queued ClickChik that I had found the cache. Yes, I did, and I think we all agreed that this was an "evil hide". That camo was so good that it took me a few moments to fully realize it was the cache (I had to read the full thing on the outside to find the clues). We signed the cache and headed out to Mukwonago. We were only about 30 minutes late for class, because we spent about 45 minutes trying to find this durned cache!
