The last stop and last cache of the day was this earthcache. To fulfill our calendar, we needed a size other, and this earthcache fit conventiely into our plans. It was along the way and while its ‘only’ about the facade of a building in the densely built up metropolis, this was truly a beautiful stop. We stopped right in front of the building, as Laura put it we ‘parked inside of a billboard’, and approached the abandoned seeming building. Around was a chaos of what I would call an abandoned drive-way, and atop a single man in a typical plastic chair; the makeshift security. Even though we might’ve been trespassing, we maintained a respectful acknowledgment of the security guard while otherwise ignoring his presence. As foreigners that allowed us to inspect the most beautiful facade of this building without being bothered, and noted down all the information we needed. As such we later sent the answers and log this earth cache with a nice memory of an urban geological feature.

After Laura and I picked up our new (used) robot, we did a little victory dance and knew the main event of the day was over. However, after being stuck at home for 8 days, I was happy to be out and Laura agrees that this could be a nice opportunity to see a bit of the town. I quickly checked our calendar and saw that we needed two caches today (size & type), and saw that we could come to this little garden. As we got close, I realize that we had been here before; I remember passing by these colorful stairs some time ago. We went into the Chinese chapel and met with zenfulness of the area, and the little local lady who greeted us behind the table. However, insecurity struck as we asked to go to the posted coords, and the lady said we’re not allowed to go there. Not allowed to go to the garden which the cache is about?! Oh oh.
I wasn’t sure what we could do, but pretty soon after listing through the photo gallery of past finders, some ideas started to come up. And perhaps it was just that; seeking a bit of inspiration and taking the questions a bit less literally and a little more open to interpretation. But that realization quickly had me get all the necessary indices, and quickly enough I had a German confirmation from the checker. We got up from the stairs and walked to GZ, where I was walking around in circles, but Laura had the right idea in a place I wouldn’t have thought to check. Very nice hiding spot indeed! We got the container open and took out the logbook; both of which are in good condition. I inked in our nick; the tiny cache is in good condition.

This was the first planned stop of the day, a special souvenir shop where Laura planned to buy a Christmas present to take back to Europe. We were unsuccessful with the Christmas present, but did snatch lunch nearby. We then went to check up on this stash, which we unfortunately didn’t find.

Made me a little happy that Laura and I had an unplanned outing; after 8 days of being stuck at home sick, Laura got us a new robotic vacuum cleaner which we had to go into town to get. Along the way, we made a right turn at this intersection and I decided to stop by for this nano cache, which Laura found relatively quickly in the urban jungle.

After a second DNF at the nearby foodie WIG cache, Laura and I still needed to find a certain cache size today, and as we had a little extra time on our hands and before going to do our weekly shopping trip, we decided to detour to this cache. I had managed to BF the coords online a few weeks ago, and thought it was a nice and easy puzzle. We got to the location, our second time at TRX, and while the first time we did walk around, we knew nothing of this Merdeka Tree. This time, we could take this little area in properly, although our goal here was quite clear. I had a good hunch where the cache would be, and asked Laura to check the spot. She did and didn’t find it, and looking through some photos, we thought maybe the BF’d coords were a little off. Laura searched around again, but it didn’t stop bugging me, I felt confident. And so I quickly checked myself, and indeed, in the exact spot I thought the cache would be, I found it. I quickly snatched the container and opened it up. Another tiny little cache the size of a big nut & bolt; so this TB only visited with us.

The logbook was a little hard to take out, as it’s torn. Shame it's such a tiny cache which could not hold a TB!

Today Laura and I took a break from our hard weekend labour and finally got to meet up with our ex-colleague who’s visiting KL. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen each other, and with him being in the country over the weekend for a conference, it seemed like a nice opportunity to meet up! We had planned this for a while, and took this as an opportunity to leave the apartment after cooking our brains (and barely getting what we needed done). We started off by me majorly messing up; between the apps on my phone I had accidentally navigated 20 minutes in the opposite direction out of town. Once we figured it out, we headed back into town, another 30 minutes of driving towards the city. We got some teh tarik as a welcome present, and finally made it to the right spot - an incredible feeling of deja vu overcame me, as I instantly recognized this street as one we walked down in 2019 when we first visited KL. Wow!
After a bit of a mixup with security, we finally made it to their AirB&B and had a nice hour of catching up and talking about life, before Kavi had to leave for a work dinner. The whole time we were there however, the back of my mind was itching as I knew very well that we were just 102 meters away from a cache. And so after saying our goodbyes, we headed back to the garage, and I drove us a little closer to this cache, which I knew we had to visit. It seemed like it would be an easy find, but with the evening darkness, it was actually quite difficult. At GZ we searched for a while, sticking our hands where they didn’t belong, but knowing instinctually we’re on the right side of the fence. We were still searching after some 10 minutes, after which we started reading through logs. Eventually, I found a log of one player mentioning that a recent OM log with a photo was helpful. I found it, and indeed, that perspective was very helpful. We were searching about 10 or 12 meters in the wrong place. The coordinates I measured at Ground Zero are N 003° 08.972' E 101° 42.139’ (I later noticed that the hide is also visible on StreetView).
After retrieving the cache container, I noted down that the little container is in a micron bag, is slightly covered with soul, and the logsheet inside the tiny zip log baggie is damp. But considering photos from past finders and the contents of this logsheet, I can clearly say that many of those claiming a find online are not in fact signed on the paper. Always a bummer. Nonetheless, we were happy to stop by this stash with this TB; the only stop of the day as we ventured out of our apartment. It’s good this TB took another adventurous ride with us!

The second of the two caches here was one I visited twice; the first time around was when I finished my job at my post and walked past the orchid garden back towards base camp. I did not find it when I came here the first time, though I did not want to draw too much attention to myself as some of our pupils were still in the vicinity. But the second time around was our community walk, during which I asked Laura to accompany me for the search. We searched and searched, but quickly enough this time I spotted the prefab. Hiding on a ledge under this concrete water tank, the prefab was in great condition and I noticed that while there is only one log online, there’s two logs in the listing. That means we’re TTF this new cache, with this TB by our side. After signing the logbook, we continued our walk around the lake, and I snapped a photo of this TB accompanying us on our walk. It’s nice to visit such a spot in KL!
Now we just have the afternoon ‘parties’ to look forward to! Thank you for keeping us company today, little traveler!

Our sports day was a lively and wet event; most of us met up in the park in the early morning and did our duties here as needed. In the late morning, once we were done, my attention shifted to the two still active caches here. This is the first one which I found quickly as it was quite visible, while many from our group were having fun nearby. Glad for this new prefab hidden in a nice park!

I like looking for archived caches, but this one was clearly not here anymore, kinda obvious from the string of DNFs before archival. Oh well…
