This is another of our favourite Dorset locations. You can read more about Maiden Castle on The English Heritage web site at http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.15733 and see one of the best images at http://viewfinder.english-heritage.org.uk/search/detail.aspx?uid=82665

This little church is one of my favourite places in Dorset.

This is something that, I believe strongly, each new generation should be made aware of ... the senseless slaughter of so many.

  • One corner of Tyne Cot cemetery. "The countless white crosses in mute witness stand."
Retrieve It from a Cache 3/1/2008 Mullet's Dad retrieved it from Carry on up The Butser Southern England, United Kingdom   Visit Log

Hung on to Emma Louise for a trip to Belgium next week. Found Queens Quest (Hampshire) two days later, which is just on the other side of the main road from London to Portsmouth from Carry On Up The Butser.

  • The main road ... ... from London to Portsmouth (A3) runs between the two caches.
  • A cache up a tree ... ... how very unusual !

We took Emma Louise up to the top of Butser Hill. This is the highest point on the South Downs, which extend for about 100 km and are one of the two major areas of chalk downland in south-east England. You can find out more about Butser Hill and the South Downs at

Retrieve It from a Cache 2/10/2008 Mullet's Dad retrieved it from Haslemere Town Maze South East England, United Kingdom   Visit Log

I thought we'd better take Emma-Louise to a cache close to where we've lived for more than 20 years.

Haslemere is an historic market town; in the county of Surrey but on the borders with Hampshire and West Sussex. It is full of timbered and tile-hung houses and cottages, and is one of the gems of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can see more about Haslemere on their web site http://www.haslemere.com/

This is a new cache that takes geocachers on a very pleasant tour of the town.

  • Haslemere ... ... is only this quiet on a Sunday.
  • Coffee outside ... ... is unusual in February.
