Retrieve It from a Cache 2/3/2008 Mullet's Dad retrieved it from Ajodar Islas Canarias, Spain   Visit Log

Not a cache to try with the real Emma Louise just yet ... loose surface and BIG drops. Good views though ... that's Mount Teide on Tenerife that you can see in the distance. Now back to England with us.

  • There are plants growing ... ... in those enormous covered enclosures.

Retrieve It from a Cache 1/31/2008 Mullet's Dad retrieved it from Bonuscache (Gran Canaria) Islas Canarias, Spain   Visit Log

We brought Emma Louise TB to Gran Canaria partly to log photographs of Roque Nublo for you. We didn't find the Thunder cache, which is at Roque Nublo, but you can see the rock from Bonuscache so I'm cheating and posting the pictures here.

  • The view from Bonuscache ... ... above the clouds.
  • Near to Roque Nublo ... ... some of the best views I've ever seen.
  • Roque Nublo ... ... two people arrived just in time to provide some scale.

A nice spot for a picnic. This part of Gran Canaria has been extensively damaged by fire but is just starting to recover.

  • The end of the lake ... ... below where we stopped for our picnic lunch.

Our first cache, and Emma-Louise's first cache, in the Islas Canarias.

  • The view from the cache ... ... late on a day in January.

We walked up to the Worcestershire Beacon with Emma Louise TB on New Year's Day 2008 The Beacon (425m) is the highest point of the Malvern Hills, a range of hills running some 13 kilometres north-south along the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border.

On the summit is a viewfinder or toposcope, identifying the hills to be seen on a clear day; it was erected in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. The views are very extensive, including to The Wrekin and past Birmingham to Cannock Chase, as well as much of Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, the Welsh borders, the Shropshire Hills and across the valleys of the Severn and Avon to the Cotswolds.

Happy New Year Emma Louise.

  • The toposcope ...
  • The view ... ... towards the west and Wales.
