Goodbye Cactus Jack, it’s time to let you have new adventures. I’ve dropped you off at a CITO and event on the Geelong foreshore. Geelong is Victoria’s second city and the home of my Australian Rules Football team, The Geelong Cats. During the 1850s Victorian gold rush, Geelong experienced a boom as the main port to the goldfields of central Victoria. The town then diversified into manufacturing, and during the 1860s became one of the largest manufacturing centres in Australia with its wool mills, ropeworks, and paper mills. Good luck! 😺

I’ve nearly finished my multi calendar so had to make an emergency rush to this cache in Coburg prior to my father-in-law’s 80th birthday party. Known for its large Lebanese, Greek and Italian populations, Coburg is famously culturally diverse, with its diversity being at the forefront of Coburg's portion of Sydney road, well known across greater Melbourne for its immense variety of storefronts, ranging from the suburb's specialty; kebab shops, trendy cafés, Greek and Italian style patisseries, to grocery stores and delis of many different cultures. 🥙

You took the train way out to Berwick today despite the forecast rain. Apparently Berwick is part of Melbourne despite it being 41 kms away. Urban sprawl. The original town was named by an early leaseholder, Robert Gardiner, after his birthplace, Berwick-on-Tweed close to the Scottish English border. I’ve been there after walking the Pennine Way. Berwick was the home of Edwin "Teddy" Flack, Australia's first Olympian and Olympic gold medal winner (800 metres (870 yd) and 1,500 metres (1,600 yd)) at the inaugural Athens Olympic Games. 🏃🏻‍♂️
