Geocache Description:

This event is at “Castellos”, a “kid friendly”, bistro type venue, with nice food, a pleasant environment, and an indoor park for any junior cachers who join us. For Table bookings phone 9702 6223. Starting time is 6pm, when the venue opens for evening meals. Please get in Early to book your teams table –This is a popular place!!!! As we progress through the night, we can easily move to each others tables, and gather at one large table for the vote counts. There is plenty of room to do this.
There are two reasons for this caching event:
1)To come along & enjoy each others company; and
2)So we can all judge the preceding “Fun & Exciting caching Activity”

So What is the “Fun & Exciting caching Activity” ???
Each team creates a cache designed to be a fun experience for all, especially those who are 12 years of age or younger. Larger caches, themed caches, games, contraptions, or equipment that must be used to obtain the final cache, or perhaps fun places at GZ, great swaps, or Any other idea’s you may come up with. All of the “Fun & Exciting caching Activity” submissions are to be made available for release on 15th September 2005, then over a 4 week period (starting with the Sept. school holidays), we go & find as many of them as we can. There is no requirement to find every cache. This “Fun & Exciting caching Activity” is NOT just for kids. The emphasis is on creating a fun, laughter, & excitement filled caching experience.

Each participating team will receive a voting card. At the event, votes will be opened (Brownlow style), & we will present a plaque/trophy for the team which hides the cache proving by popular vote to be “The Most Fun Caching experience” of the “Activity”. Second prize is a “GPS Outfitters” Geocaching Kit/Bag. This prize has been kindly donated to us by the GPS Guru’s of ,“Johnny Appleseed”, (St Kilda road Melbourne). We have one of these and they are fantastic -(It fits our GPS, phone, camera, pens, torch, some small swaps, is easily attached to the belt, & has a weather proof cover. There will also be consolation prizes including some Travel bugs kindly donated by "Sphere Innovative Technologies" online caching store.

And for those who have kids: Every child participating in the event will be formally presented with a “Certificate of Participation”. Each child participant can also receive a “Junior Cachers Kit”-(see attached photo & Click here to order).

In order to participate in this “Fun & Exciting caching Activity”, each participant must:
A) Hide a cache consistent with the guidelines below, & in such a way so as to make it fun or exciting for all, especially those who are 12 years of age or younger. –(This does not mean that they cannot be found & enjoyed by older cachers, in fact quite the contrary. We all enjoy hiding and finding a cache, which is perhaps a little different).
B) Each participating team, needs to find 4 or more of the caches submitted.

Here are the guidelines:
1. The difficulty rating should be 2 or less.
2. The terrain rating should be 2 or less.
3. The size of the cache container must be One Litre or more.
4. Up to 3 waypoints/required locations (including start, middle, & final).
5. Maximum 500metres (ish) from the nearest asphalt road.
6. Maximum 500metres (ish) total traveling from starting waypoint to final waypoint.
7. No other rules, just have fun caching.

Participants may enter as many caches as they like. The Names of Participating Caches are Listed below as a URL Link, so we all know which ones to hunt prior to the Event Night.

Priority: Having light hearted non competitive fun, social activity, & using our imagination, whilst remembering to cater for the youngsters also. So get the thinking caps on, let the imaginations fly, & lets get into a bit of fun !!!!!
