CSI-10: The End Game Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of CSI-10: The End Game to find out about the status of this cache on August 31, 2009. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me via ma.reviewer@gmail.com to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

The CSI series is a collection of caches that derive their name from the popular television program in which the lead character has often been heard to say, “Follow the evidence.” Unlike a more traditional mystery cache in which a puzzle must be solved to determine the coordinates of the cache, the CSI series offers something different. Instead of conquering a puzzle, you must follow the evidence to each CSI container. For more details about the series and where the “evidence” can be found, go to the CSI-1 cache page (visit link)

CSI-10: The End Game

Whereas, the CSI series began with a short hike to a scenic area, The End Game is a lengthy multi that will take you past several scenic spots. Is it one long hike in the same woods, or will it require a mix of hiking and driving? Master sleuths will eventually find this out and hopefully find this hunt a rewarding “End” to the CSI series.

Basic Data:

Designated Parking: Roadside
Size: Varied
Trails: Suitable for hiking only
Proximity to trail: Varied
Distance from parking: A multi-stage hunt - the longest CSI hike

To find the End Game you must retrieve evidence placed in each of the other CSI caches and you must also find a Secret Vault hidden in a mystery location.

Each CSI cache contains a small CSI-10 clue sheet. The Secret Vault contains a code breaker. With clues and code breaker in hand, you will be able to calculate the location of stage one. Be careful, hasty analysis could lead to faulty conclusions.

Stage one is a small container that has been placed 10-15 feet or so left of the trail in a likely spot. It contains coordinates for stage two and some basic details about the rest of the hunt. All subsequent micros are within ten feet of the trail. The final has been hidden further into the woods but the area is pretty clear.

The 4.0 difficulty reflects the need to complete the entire CSI series in order to find the cache. As a stand alone cache the difficulty would be more like 2.5. Most of the terrain is in the 2.0 to 2.5 range but one spot is more like 3.5.

About the Secret Vault

The Secret Vault is just a short hike away from another CSI locale. It has been tucked inside a crevice of a sizeable rock that stands alone about 30-feet uphill from the trail. The task of locating the vault should be fairly straightforward if you identify and use the tool I have provided, which allows you to combine map navigation with GPS technology to lead you to the spot which is located at a bearing of 139.288 degrees from the closest CSI cache and 56.514 degrees from the closest non-Emmett traditional cache.

Make sure you sign the log book so others will know of your visit, but do not mention your discovery when logging your find for the nearby CSI cache. Please exercise care to assure this spot remains a mystery for future CSI cachers.

You may log an official find for the Vault on this page after you have logged finds for CSI-1 thru CSI-9, and you may post a separate find log once you locate the CSI-10 cache.

That's two find logs for one cache. How can you beat that? Of course, it could also mean two DNF logs for one cache.
