Geocache Description:

The CSI series is a collection of caches that derive their name from the popular television program in which the lead character has often been heard to say, “Follow the evidence.” Unlike a more traditional mystery cache in which a puzzle must be solved to determine the coordinates of the cache, the CSI series offers something different. Instead of conquering a puzzle, you must follow the evidence to each CSI container. For more details about the series and where the “evidence” can be found, go to the CSI-1 cache page (visit link)

CSI-8: The Howling Place

A very interesting area you may well have passed by before without noticing. Among all the CSI caches, this seems to be the one that has generated the most “wow.” Beware, however, the area does present varying terrain challenges at different times of the year. Additional explanation is provided below.

The trail will take you behind some houses a short distance, then along some surprising and varied terrain on the way to the cache. Shorter access to the cache location is possible through private land but is prohibited. Please use the designated parking.

The trailhead is clearly marked but overgrowth during the summer may obscure the initial portion of your hike for about 200-300 feet.

As is the case with one other CSI locale, once you arrive at the suspect's hideout, you may have occasion for joy that will be short-lived. Do not despair. The criminal you seek has been joined by an unexpected visitor who has set up residence real close by.

Basic Data:

Designated Parking: Ample off street parking southwest of cache
Size: Large, plastic jar
Trails: Not suitable for biking
Proximity to trail: Less than twenty feet
Distance: Approximate hiking distance of about 2,281 feet, less by air

According to local lore, the howling of wild beasts may greet those who venture in for this cache. Yet even if the beasts be absent or quiet, the terrain will certainly keep you on your toes at times.

During a portion of the hike, you will be traversing on a narrow trail along a steep slope than can be quite treacherous when covered by leaves, snow or ice. This hike is not recommended for kids.

It's a very nice place to visit for sure. The warning is provided only to assure you are prepared for the potential of changing conditions.

This cache contains a clue for CSI-9.
