Goal: To hike the next 30km of the Beaver Valley section of the Bruce Trail. The Beaver Valley section is a total of 114.1km in length.
This is the 15th Bruce Trail hike in this series of BT events. The total distance of the Beaver Valley section is 114.1km long and we will be hiking the next 30km of it to continue this section of the Bruce Trail.
We plan on doing about 2 or 3 hikes a year in order to complete my goal of finishing the entire Bruce Trail on my 50th birthday. This year there will be 4 hikes so that we are able to complete the Beaver Valley section this year.
I estimate that the entire hike will take about 9 hours to complete, so we should be done around 6:00pm. This is at a moderate 3.5km\h pace.
If you can't make the entire hike, maybe join us for part of it atleast. You can always drop out along the way if you feel it's too difficult or too long.
Meet at 9:00am at the posted coordinates, which is the 33.2km mark (Edition 26 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Beaver Valley section of the Bruce Trail which is where the trail meets 9th Sideroad. We plan to start hiking around 9:15am.
Destination is the 63.1km mark (Edition 26 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Beaver Valley section of the Bruce Trail which is about 100m past the the Hogg's Falls parking lot at Lower Valley Rd (N44 17.063 W80 32.563 ).
Parking: Beginning: Parking lot off of 9th Sideroad (N44 25.396 W80 28.175). End: Parking lot at Hogg's Falls off of Lower Valley Rd (N44 17.071 W80 32.549).
Hopefully some people will park at the end and carpool back to the starting point both before and after the hike. I plan on parking at the end point so I will need a ride to the beginning before the hike. It's about a 20 minute drive from the end point to the start point.
What you should bring: Water and other drinks. Food for lunch, dinner and snacks. GPS. Maps. Camera. Cell Phone. First Aid Kit. Advil/Tylenol.
It might be wise to stash some supplies at certain locations of your choice along the trail so that you don't have to carry everything with you.
Track our progress as we hike the trail. Don't feel up for the hike, then join us by watching our progress as we go along. Screen will update couple of minutes, but our progress will be updated every hour or so. Thanks to northerpenguin for setting this up.
