Route:
This Environmental Trail is closed to
motorised traffic, and geocachers should respect this and carry out
the very pleasant walk on foot in the listed order.
From the recommended car park, go past
the Trail Notice Board, Painel 1 and follow the trail initially
heading 160º.
The Trilho Ambiental is clearly marked with wooden posts marked
with red and yellow flashes.
Trail Marker
At about 500m you will reach Painel
2. Follow the trail where it turns right at the Forestry
Guard House. Painel 3 and a seat to rest will be found at about 1.7
km, Painel 4 and a rest area with tables at 2.25 km.
At about 2.5 km leave the Trilho Ambiental
opposite a Trail Sign and fork left past a rope onto a wide path
which starts to ascend slightly. Carry on along the ridge
until you reach the marvelloue views at the end. At approximately
4.5 km turn back on the ridge path, (the views are completely
different on the way back.
Castelejo from the
ridge
When you
reach the rope where you forked left originally, turn left at the
T-junction onto the Trilho Ambiental again. You will find the Trail
Painel 5 at about 6 km, and then Painel 6 at 6.5 km. The
trail meets the tarmac road to castelejo at 6.8 km. Turn right and
take a path parallel to the road which takes you to the car Park
where you started at about 7.4 km. Walking time, not allowing for
searching and logging the caches is less than 2 hours. Good luck
and enjoy the series.
