Geocache Description:

General John's Graduation Cache
Or A Short History of the York Regional Police

The cache was created to mark the graduation of General John (JM) from Law School. The cache is located in Maple, Ontario.

York Regional Police was formed in 1971 when province began creating regional forces to replace the large number of local forces across the province. The York force involved the merger of several local police forces in what was then York County:
King Township Police (1800s) Vaughan Township Police (1937) Whitchurch Township Police Markham Police Department (1931) North Gwillimbury Township Police Georgina Township Police York County Police Richmond Hill Township Police Newmarket Township Police Aurora Township Police Stouffville Township Police

Our motto, DEEDS SPEAK, is interpreted to mean “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” and serves as an appropriate bridge between a proud past and a bright future. The motto was coined during the War of 1812 by the 3rd York Militia Regiment, in which many of the Home District Constables served. The crest is borrowed from the crest of the former County of York government.

The Cache

The cache is located near a spot of some significance for General John.

During his time in Law School General John developed a fond affection for our men in black.

The cache is in a black neoprene bag containing a lock-n-lock container. On the back of the cache is a hook, whose function will become obvious when you find the cache.

To re-initiate the cache there are a number of Canadian flag pins. TB.

General John-TB is a Lego figure that JM
had as a young boy.

Now that JM has graduated and is on his way in life, General John has also stretched his legs and is currently traveling, after starting his journey from this cache. Check him out and see where he has been.

General John has heard of JM's travels around the world.

He too would like to travel and see the world!

Initially placed inside the cache is a logbook, pencil and Canadian Flags.

If you take a flag, please leave a flag or a pin in its place- or another Lego figure!!!

There is plenty of parking near the cache on the east side of Melville.

There are a lot of muggles around as a result of the close proximity to the park and recreational facilities.

Stealth is highly advised!
