International Earthcache Day - well
almost
Each year we celebrate International Earthcache on the first
Sunday of Earth Science Week. This year that day is Sunday 10
October - and so 10/10/10.
To help us celebrate we ask people to either run an event cache
through Geocaching.com, or attend an event and tell others about
how much fun visiting and developing EarthCaches can be.
People who organize events can be sent a package of EarthCache
'goodies' to hand out to participants. A random selection of people
have been sent 10-10-10 stickers.
Best 10 List
Which of the over 6000 EarthCaches do we consider
the best in the world? This is a question that we decided was worth
answering. In May this year six EarthCachers from around the world
(USA, Canada, Portugal, Sweden, Australia) started the huge task of
compiling the list of the best 10 EarthCaches. The team
looked at the quality of the information, use of diagrams, logging
requirements, references etc. While there will always be debate,
the final list is :
GC1M15H
GC1B0Y9
GC1K80T
GC1QN2J
GC1A3V6
GCZ9C3
GC1QN2P
GC17NQ9
GCZ8H7
GC13D90
Why not have a look at these are see if you can't meet what the
team consideres to be 'best practice'. For those developers who own
these wonderful EarthCaches....WELL DONE and many thanks for making
EarthCaching a richer experience!
