The event will be open to participants of the Living Skies Mega Event from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm on Friday, July 18th. Participants who find all of the caches will be entered into a draw for a Parks Canada Prize Package including a year-round Family Parks Pass to any National Park or National Historic Site in Canada!
Batoche displays the remains of the village of Batoche on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. It was the last battlefield in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885. Louis Riel selected Batoche as the headquarters of his "Provisional Government of Saskatchewan". Several buildings have been restored within the site. The site depicts the lifestyles of the Métis of Batoche between 1860 and 1900 - the trails they walked, their homes, their church, and the Battle of Batoche, May 9-12, 1885.
Ce lieu historique présente les vestiges du village de Batoche, sur les rives de la rivière Saskatchewan-Sud, qui fut le dernier champ de bataille de la Rébellion du Nord-Ouest de 1885. Louis Riel avait choisi Batoche comme siège de son « gouvernement provisoire de la Saskatchewan ». Plusieurs bâtiments ont été restaurés dans le lieu. Le lieu dépeint le mode de vie des Métis de Batoche entre 1860 et 1900 : les sentiers qu'ils parcouraient, leurs maisons, leur église et la bataille de Batoche, qui se déroula du 9 au 12 mai 1885.
