There have been a number of caches which reflected the endless wait for the Edinburgh Trams; however, with the trams being rumored to start passenger service any year now it's time to have something more positive.
We originally planned to place this cache when the tram works were supposed to be completed. When they didn't we decided to delay the cache until some evidence of work appeared. Then we decided to wait until testing began. Finally we decided to place the cache the day the trams started passenger service. Naturally, in keeping with the ethos of the trams, we ended up placing the cache late.
The above coordinates will take you to the York Place Tram terminus. The cache is not there, but you can start from there; it's easy enough to get to the starting point by bus; maybe even by tram!
Make your way to N55°57.456 W003°11.161 and figure out how many trams can be seen from this spot in 1 hour; you should be able to determine the answer without waiting a whole hour; this number will be X.
For the second and final hint you need to ask a famous detective: make your way to N55°57.412 W003°11.205 where you will see a statue of SHERLOCK H?LMES. The missing letter in the surname looks a bit like a number, this will be Y.
(Checksum: X + Y = 0)
From the statue of Mr. H?LMES it is just a short walk to the tupperware, which is at:
NAA°AB.CDE WXXF°DD.EXF
where:
A = X + 5
B = Y + 7
C = X + Y + 4
D = 1 - X
E = 2 - Y
F = X - Y + 3
Expect muggles, buses and trams. The difficulty level reflects the amount of stealth required.
