Con esta serie, Vitoria-Gasteiz Ayer y Hoy, os quiero acercar a varios rincones de nuestra preciosa ciudad, para contaros cosas curiosas y ver como los cambios arquitectonicos o de las costumbres de los vitorianos han forjado la identidad actual tan unica de Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Zaramaga es un barrio de fuerte tradición obrera motivado por la cercanía que tenía a los principales centros industriales de la ciudad, la fábrica de Michelin y Forjas Alavesas. Y es que es aqui, donde hoy se levanta el Boulveard, donde se localizaba la antigua fabrica de Forjas. Poco queda ya de ese pasado metalurgico en la zona, salvo algún recuerdo como la antigua prensa Massey.

HISTORY OF THE OLD FOUNDRY

The Zaramaga neighborhood has always had a strong working class feeling motivated by the closeness to major industry centers, the Michelin factory and the siderurgic Forjas Alavesas. And it's here, where today the shopping center Boulevard is located, where once you could have found the heavy noisy industry. Little remains of that metallurgical past, except for some reminders as the old press Massey.
