Warnham Nature Reserve Car Park
Horsham
The aim of the day is to build and maintain some walkways through the Local Nature Reserve.
Sections of the path that run through the woodland on the reserve are very wet and boggy over the winter; there are existing sections that require fresh bark chippings being laid over the old and areas to extend the bark path through the woodland to make the site more user friendly. The task comprises of laying logs to create an edge along the path, hammering in wooden steaks to secure them and then wheelbarrowing bark chippings to form an even surface. The task is suitable for a wide rage of skill and fitness levels and works well for groups of any size. Materials are locally sourced – mostly from wood grown and processed on the reserve itself.
We are aiming to start at 10:00 am in the Warnham Nature Reserve car park. We will be supplied with tools and equipment and instructions on how to use it, but if you could bring your own gloves that would be helpful. It’s a ~20min walk from the car park to the area we will be working in.
We plan to finish at around 13:00
The published co-ordinates are for the car park off Warnham Road.
Refreshments will be supplied on the day, but if anyone wants to bring along some cake, I am sure it will be appreciated.
