Geocache Description:

AUSTRIAN SUMMITS
	Diese Serie soll euch einige österreichische Berggipfel mit jeweils einer detailierten Anstiegsvariante näherbringen.
	The intention of this series is to present some Austrian summits and recommended ways to reach the respective summit.

LAHNECK 2216 m
	Die Bergregion im Bereich des Sommertörls ist ein familienfreundliches und schönes Wandergebiet, das vor allem im Frühsommer mit seiner Alpenblumenpracht zu glänzen weiss. So ist auch schon Ende Juni die Zufahrt von Gaal auf das Sommertörl eine Augenweide, da ein breiter Streifen mit herrrlich blau blühenden Lupinien den Weg säumt.
	The hiking area around Sommertoerl is a perfect match for families with children - and all those who enjoy the many colors of the alpine flowers, especially in early summer. If you drive from Gaal to Sommertörl in late June, you will definitely notice many, many blue lupines beside the street.

	Anreise / Approach: Mit dem PKW gelangt man von Knittelfeld in die Gaal und weiter auf das Sommertörl oder von St. Oswald auf das Sommertörl. Leider gibt es keine öffentliche Verkehrsanbindung und die Strasse auf das Sommertörl ist im Winter generell gesperrt.. Follow the road from Knittelfeld to Gaal and further on to Sommertoerl. It is also possible to drive from St.Oswald to Sommertoerl. But please be aware that no vehicles are permitted on the road during winter season.
	Anstieg / Ascend:Vom Sommertörl führt ein markierter Forstweg zur Loretto Kapelle (1817 m Referenzpunkt 1). Der Anstieg zum Rosenkogel (1918 m Referenzpunkt 2), von wo man eine herrrliche Aussicht genießt, beträgt nur 20 Minuten. Die Weiterwanderung auf das Lahneck ist eine schöne Höhenwanderung mit 4 zusätzlichen Caches von Helga77 (#01 - #04), wo man sich besonders Ende Juni an den herrlichen Almrauschhängen erfreuen kann. Der Wanderweg ist ein ständiges bergauf und bergab bis man zum Gipfelhang kommt, wo nur mehr ein kleines Steiglein in Serpentinen den Berg hinan führt. Umso großartiger ist die Aussicht am Gipfel. Starting at the parking place at Sommertoerl follow the marked trail to Loretto chapel - reference point 1 at 1817m. Continue your ascent to Rosenkogel summit - reference point 2 at 1918m, which you will reach approximately 20 minutes later. The further hike is a constant up and down (please note the four caches from Helga 77 #01 - #04) until you reach the slope of Lahneck. Note the beautiful alpine flowers here, e.g. the alpenrose, which covers large areas around. Follow the narrow trail up the slope until you reach the summit of Lahneck at 2216m.
	Abstieg / Descend: Der Abstieg folgt dem selben Weg wie der Aufstieg, wobei der Gipfel des Rosenkogels linksseitig umgangen werden kann. Ein deutlicher Pfad führt hier zurück Richtung Loretto Kapelle. Descent route is the same as the ascent route - note, that you can avoid climbing Rosenkogel again by taking the path to the left heading back to Loretto chapel.

Der Cachebehälter ist eine MunBox, die ausreichend Platz für Tauschgegenstände bietet! In der MunBox befindet sich nochmals eine Lock&Lock-Dose, in der sich das Logbuch befindet. Und im äußersten Notfall, wenn alles andere nass geworden ist, liegt nochmals ein Petling mit Reservelogbuch in der Box! Bringt sicherheitshalber immer einen eigenen Stift mit - danke!
