Geocache Description:

This is Piece 3 of a series of 12 puzzle piece caches that I am hiding all across Southern California! Each cache contains a different piece and when you have obtained them all, you can assemble them into a custom-made puzzle. Please feel free to take one puzzle piece, and leave the rest for others! This particular piece is hidden in the La Loma Hills in San Bernadino County. To obtain this piece, you will need to be prepared for a 1.5mi roundtrip hike to the cache that ascends and decends about 500ft in elevation. There are multiple ways that you could begin your journey, but the most straightforward is to park in the residential neighborhood near the intersection of W Litton Ave and Terrace View Dr, and follow W Litton Ave into the hills as it turns from a paved road into a dirt road. Using the satellite view of the map, it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out how to get up there; just make sure to bring a walking stick and wear good quality shoes, as the final section of the trail right before the cache suddenly ascends up a very steep, sandy slope. You will have to go slightly off the trail in order to access the rock outcropping where the cache is located. If you are approaching from the north, I would advise you to pass the location of the cache first, and then approach the rock outcropping from the south; it is easier than ascending up a steep rock face. Take your time and don't slip! Also, make sure to bring adequate water and sun protection. Below I have attached two pictures of ground zero; by matching up your view to these images, you should be able to locate the cache. If the pieces are running low or the cache otherwise needs maintenance, let me know and I will address it as soon as possible. Happy trails and best of luck!
