Die vielen positiven Rückmeldungen zu unserer Serie des Berner Stadtbachs haben uns inspiriert, einen neuen Fluss in Angriff zu nehmen. Dieses Mal ist es die Urtene (auch „Urtenenbach“ genannt), welche in der Nähe von Münchenbuchsee entspringt und durch den Moossee fliesst, bis sie zwischen Bätterkinden und Schalunen in die Emme mündet.
Als Orientierungshilfe findest Du ein paar Kartenausschnitte für diese Etappe, in welchen der Bach blau (oberirdisch) oder rot gestrichelt (unterirdisch) eingezeichnet ist. Achtung: Der folgende Link startet den Download einer Datei mit weiteren Details, die zum Finden des Geocaches benötigt werden. Als Cachebesitzer versichere ich, dass diese Datei ungefährlich ist. Die Datei und ihr Inhalt sind nicht vom Geocaching HQ oder einem Geocache Reviewer auf schädlichen Inhalt überprüft worden und die Datei wird auf eigene Gefahr heruntergeladen. Download aus Dropbox.

Der Startpunkt dieses Teils ist im Weiler „Holzmühle“. Ein Weiler ist eine Siedlung, die aus wenigen Gebäuden besteht, kleiner als ein Dorf ist und in der Regel keine politische Einheit ist. Der Weiler „Holzmühle“ gehört zur Gemeinde Jegenstorf. Die Anfahrt mit dem öV oder dem Auto ist etwas umständlich. Am besten parkierst Du Dein Cachemobil bei N 47° 03.118 / E 7° 32.915. Dort gibt es einen öffentlichen Parkplatz im Wald. Wenn Du mit dem öV anreist, nimmst Du am die S-Bahn-Linie bis Hindelbank. In beiden Fällen sind es etwa 15 bis 20 Minuten Fussmarsch zum Start. Achtung: Die Route ist sehr sonnenexponiert – schütze Dich entsprechend!
Bei jeder „Stage“ musst Du eine Frage beantworten und erhältst Zahlen. Diese benötigst Du nicht nur, um die Koordinaten der nächsten „Stage“ zu berechnen, sondern Du brauchst sie auch zum Entschlüsseln der Koordinaten des Finals. Für eine „Stage“ brauchst Du zudem ein internetfähiges Handy mit einem QR-Code-Leser. Du startest bei N 47° 03.659 / E 7° 32.369.
Wichtiger Hinweis: In jedem Logbuch oder auf jedem Logstreifen im Final findest Du Wortfetzen. Du brauchst sie, um die Schluss-Koordinaten zu berechnen. Schreib’ sie also an einem sicheren Ort auf. Pass’ auf, dass Du den richtigen Wortfetzen notierst – es gibt einen für die deutsche und einen für die englische Fassung.

Final-Berechnung:
Du findest alle gesammelten Zahlen von A bis K im Raster unten. Sie sind entweder von links nach rechts oder von oben nach unten geschrieben (keine Zeilenumbrüche). Streiche alle gefundenen Zahlen aus dem Raster. Übrig bleiben sechs Zahlen. Von links nach rechts, Zeile für Zeile gelesen ergeben sie die benötigten Nachkommastellen für die Nord- und Ostkoordinate des Finals. Du kannst Dein Resultat mit dem Geochecker überprüfen.
Der Final befindet sich auf Privatgelände. Die Eigentümer sind informiert und haben den Cache bewilligt. Den Garten darfst Du betreten – das ist zum Loggen jedoch nicht nötig.

The many positive responses to our series on Berne's Stadtbach have inspired us to tackle a new stream. This time it's the Urtene (also known as the ‘Urtenenbach’), which rises near Münchenbuchsee and flows through the Moossee until it joins the Emme between Bätterkinden and Schalunen.
As an orientation aid, you will find a few map sections for this stage, in which the stream is marked in blue (above ground) or dashed red (underground). Attention: The following link starts the download of a file with further details needed to find the geocache. As the cache owner, I assure you that this file is not dangerous. The starting point of this part is in the ‘Weiler’ (hamlet) of ‘Holzmühle’. A ‘Weiler’ is a settlement that consists of a few buildings, is smaller than a village and is generally not a political unit. ‘Holzmühle’ belongs to the municipality of Jegenstorf. Getting there by public transport or car is a bit of a hassle. The best place to park is at N 47° 03.118 / E 7° 32.915, where there is a public car park in the forest. If you are travelling by public transport, take the train to Hindelbank. Either way, it is about a 15 to 20 minutes walk to the start. Attention: The route is very exposed to the sun – protect yourself accordingly!
At each stage, you have to answer a question and get numbers. You need these numbers to calculate the coordinates of the next stage, but also to decipher the coordinates of the final location. Final calculation:
You will find all the numbers collected from A to K in the grid below. They are written either from left to right or from top to bottom (no line breaks). Cross out all the numbers you have found from the grid. Six numbers remain. Read from left to right, line by line, they give the decimal places required for the north and east coordinates of the final. You can check your result using the Geochecker.
The final is located on private property. The owners have been informed and have approved the cache. You are allowed to enter the garden, but this is not necessary for logging.
