Die vielen positiven Rückmeldungen zu unserer Serie des Berner Stadtbachs haben uns inspiriert, einen neuen Fluss in Angriff zu nehmen. Dieses Mal ist es die Urtene (auch „Urtenenbach“ genannt), welche in der Nähe von Münchenbuchsee entspringt und durch den Moossee fliesst, bis sie zwischen Bätterkinden und Schalunen in die Emme mündet.
Um diesen fünften Teil absolvieren zu können, musst Du vorgängig die ersten vier Multi Caches lösen und die dort versteckten Wortfetzen sammeln:
Dieser Mystery setzt sich aus drei Teilen zusammen:

Teil 1 kannst Du zu Hause lösen: Lade das Kreuzworträtsel herunter (Link unten) und löse es. Du musst in einem Bild englische Begriffe suchen. Das Bild ist eine künstlerische Interpretation eines Songs aus den späten 1960ern. Wandle die Buchstaben in den grünen Feldern des Kreuzworträtsels um nach A=1, … Z=26, und zähle sie zusammen.

Teil 2 ist Feldarbeit. Dafür benötigst Du das Listing bzw. die Waypoints zu diesem Cache. Das Kartenmaterial kannst Du wie gewohnt herunterladen (Link unten).
- Für Teil 3 benötigst Du ein Arbeitsblatt, welches Du herunterladen kannst (Link unten). In diesem Arbeitsblatt kannst Du folgende Daten eintragen: (1) die in den ersten vier Urtenenbach-Multis gesammelten Wortfetzen sowie die Wortfetzen von Stage 11 aus diesem Cache; (2) die Summe der umgewandelten Buchstaben aus dem Kreuzworträtsel; (3) die Zahlen für die Schlussrechnung. Wenn Du alles im Arbeitsblatt eingetragen hast, kannst Du nicht nur die Koordinaten des Verstecks berechnen (siehe Hint), sondern auch den dreistelligen Code, den Du zum Öffnen des Zahlenschlosses brauchst.

Du startest den letzten Teil der Urtenenbach-Serie am Rande von Fraubrunnen bei N 47° 05.210 / E 7° 32.041. Parkplätze und eine öV-Anbindung gibt es eher im Zentrum des Dorfes. Vom Bahnhof Fraubrunnen aus sind es etwa 15 bis 20 Minuten Fussmarsch zum Start. Das Ziel ist irgendwo in Bätterkinden. Dort mündet auch der Urtenenbach in die Emme. Achtung: Die Route ist teilweise sonnenexponiert – schütze Dich entsprechend! Und noch ein Hinweis: Für Stage 4 benötigst Du ein internetfähiges Handy mit oder ohne QR-Code-Reader.

04.11.2025: Stage 5: The sign seems to have disappeared. That's why the solution is temporarily free: E = 2018
The many positive responses to our series on Berne's Stadtbach have inspired us to tackle a new stream. This time it's the Urtene (also known as the ‘Urtenenbach’), which rises near Münchenbuchsee and flows through the Moossee until it joins the Emme between Bätterkinden and Schalunen.
To complete this fifth part, you must first solve the first four multi caches and collect the hidden word fragments:
This mystery consists of three parts:

You can complete part 1 at home: Download the crossword puzzle (link below) and solve it. You have to find English terms in a picture. The picture is an artistic interpretation of a song from the late 1960s. Convert the letters in the green fields of the crossword puzzle to A=1, ... Z=26, and add them up.

Part 2 is fieldwork. For this, you will need the listing or waypoints for this cache. You can download the map material as usual (link below).

To complete part 3, you will need a worksheet, which you can download (link below). In this worksheet, you can enter the following data: (1) the word fragments collected in the first four Urtenenbach multis as well as the word fragments from stage 11 of this cache; (2) the sum of the converted letters from the crossword puzzle; (3) the numbers for the final calculation. Once you have entered everything in the worksheet, you can calculate not only the coordinates of the hiding place (see hint), but also the three-digit code you need to open the combination lock.

You start the last part of the Urtenenbach series on the outskirts of Fraubrunnen at N 47° 05.210 / E 7° 32.041. Parking spaces and public transport connections are more readily available in the centre of the village. From Fraubrunnen railway station, it is about a 15- to 20-minute walk to the start. The destination is somewhere in Bätterkinden, where the Urtenenbach flows into the Emme. Please note: parts of the route are exposed to the sun, so make sure you take appropriate precautions. One more thing: for Stage 4, you will need an internet-enabled mobile phone with or without a QR code reader.
