Geocache Description:

UPDATE -- March 13, 2010
I finally heard back from the Norwegian Stargate Keeper. There was a home fire, and most of belongings that were not destroyed were packed up and placed into storage. The Keeper has moved into a "shoebox" while waiting for repairs to be completed on the house. At this point the Keeper has no idea what caching stuff, if any, survived the fire. The Norwegian Stargate Keeper will be able to look for these items after back home.

UPDATE -- November 16, 2009
After a year and a half, I have finally received updated information about the configuration of the Stargate Network. In that time, three Stargate portals have been closed, but three new portals have been found.

UPDATE -- April 20, 2008
The Hawaiian Stargate Keeper will be moving to the US Mainland, and as a result that Stargate (P21158) is no longer available.

As before, new (or modified) Stargates are shown in "orange", and I've used "red" to reflect a disabled Stargate cache.

Finally, if the Flash Animation which shows the locations of the Stargate caches does not work for on your computer, you may need to update your version of the Flash software.

UPDATE -- February 20, 2008
There have been some changes to the Stargate TB Cache network since I last updated the list here. Notably the portal to the Netherlands has been shut down. A new portal was discovered in Belgium not long ago, and it may serve as a good replacement.

There is also a new portal in Japan, and a second portal in Australia. I have now updated the table of Stargate portals to reflect these changes. New (or modified) portals are highlighted in "orange", and I've used "red" to reflect a disabled portal.

UPDATE -- January 29, 2007
Several new Stargate TB Caches have been added to the Stargate Network over the past few months. I have now updated the table of Stargates to reflect these changes, and have highlighted the new caches in "orange".

UPDATE -- September 21, 2006
It seems to me that items arriving from the Stargate Network will sit here for an extended period before being picked up. My guess is that cachers are not sure if it is "safe" to take TBs from this cache. To eliminate this problem I have created green "GO AHEAD" cards, which I will attach to items arriving here through the Stargate Network in the future. Thank you.

UPDATE -- May 13, 2006
Two separate times I came by to pick up a TB that was waiting to go through the Stargate network, only to find that another cacher had picked it up. In an attempt to eliminate this problem I have placed some STOP "cards" (pictured below) into the bag with the log book. Please use one of these cards for each Travel Bug or Geocoin placed in this cache if it is to go out onto the Stargate Network. Thank you.

This cache is a new member of the Stargate Travel Bug Cache Network. It may also be used as a regular TB hotel. Here's how it works:
Put simply, any travel bug arriving at a Stargate TB Cache can be rapidly transported to another Stargate TB Cache for eventual pickup.

If a TB is left in this cache (an ammo can) with a valid Stargate address, the TB will be transported to that specified Stargate TB Cache. For example: if “P3898” is included in the log entry or on a physical note attached to a TB, that TB will arrive at the Stargate P3898 TB Cache.

If the TB is left without a valid Stargate address, or has an invalid address, it may be transported to a cache that, in the cache owner’s opinion, best advances its goal. If travel via the Stargate Network will hinder the TB's goal(s), the TB's travel orders will be revoked.

If a TB owner doesn’t want their TB to travel via the Stargate network, quickly contact the cache owner to override the traveling orders. If the cacher dropping off the TB doesn’t want the TB to travel the Stargate network, include this information in the cache log (both paper and web). The TB will be assigned local support duty.

Below is a list of known Stargate TB Caches. This list is sorted in longitudinal order beginning with caches on the east coast of the USA and moving west. Stargate P4079 is the original Stargate cache, and as such may have newer information than this Stargate cache.

TBs headed outside North America may require multiple wormhole trips to intermediate Stargates to complete their mission. Additionally, a Zero Point Module (ZPM) may be required. Logistics to arrange multiple trips and/or to secure a ZPM may take several weeks or more.

Please only pick up arriving Travel Bugs. That is, if you find a Travel Bug that is waiting for transport to another Stargate TB Cache, please leave it in the cache.

While this cache is themed to Travel Bugs, there still a log and trade goods to welcome all geocachers.

The longevity of this cache is going to be directly linked to how well each cache finder rehides this cache. Please take a few minutes to do a world-class camouflage job after your find.
