Current Goal

We started this travel bug after we found a key which was hidden by fourth graders as a part of their geography lesson. Our family thought this was a neat idea. We picked up three student's keys and with the permission expressed on the cache site (GC1CTED), we turned the keys into travel bugs for the students to watch their keys journey around the map! Two thumbs up to this school for thinking outside of the box and coming up with an exciting and engaging way to reach students. We hope that the students will enjoy watching their keys travel. This particular key was from H.B.

The mission of this travel bug is to travel far and wide to stay as active as possible for the student watching their key/trackable! As you make your post, please give some details about the area that you hid the key in, what may make this area special or something neat in the surrounding community or area. Let's help make learning fun!! :)

I got off this exit of the PA Turnpike to get another county/Delorme grid and found out I was very close to the "famous" double tunnels of the turnpike. See the picture... there are two long and narrow mountain ridges that run along side each other, so the tunnels go through the first, see daylight for about 200 yards, and then go through the second tunnel. I wonder what geological events made these mountains shaped this way sit so close together???

I have a few geocaches on the Robbins Trail here in Danville, which is reported to be the oldest "Rail to Trail" in the country. The rail line that originally served here supported the steel business in the area that produced the first T-Rails in the country. See more details in my cache listings for GC1TB51 (The Oldest Rail to Trail) and GC3P5PZ (Home of the Danville T-Railers). The attached pictures show a old covered bridge that used to support the rail line that has been converted to a hiking/fishing bridge.

This cache was stored along Little Fishing Creek that flows in central PA and empties into the Susquehanna in Bloomsburg. Twice in the last 6 years (the latest was September 2011), this creek devastated the local area with flash flooding, and then the river backed up into town and flooded again. The attached pictures show a rather idyllic sceen, but then again, the waters are low because of the current drought.
