Current Goal

This bug is attached to a Yuengling bottle/can opener. Yuengling is the oldest Brewery in America. Located in Pottsville, PA they started brewing in 1829, 5 generations later they are still brewing there today. The goal of this opener/bug is to travel around the WORLD while assisting thirsty, beer-lovin' Geocachers open as many different kinds of beer as possible after that long day out in the field. It started its journey by opening an ice-cold bottle of Traditional Lager on 5/27/03 in Lancaster, PA.

About This Item

America's Oldest Brewery Bug - by iBrew

Please, DO NOT acquire this bug unless you plan on opening and logging a "DIFFERENT" type of beer with it. After acquiring this bug and opening a beer with it - log info on the brand, style and type of beer it was used to open (multiple opens per stop are encouraged). If you have a digital camera, why not take a picture of the label and upload it? Let’s see how many different types of beer across the globe we can log. Please keep the message with the bug in a zip-lock baggie as you move from cache to cache. Thanks for playing! If you want to check out “The Oldest Brewery in America” their website is www.yuengling.com

Grabed this today at the GBES event. I could not resist, since I grew up close to this brewery back in the 70's. I had a couple of Sierra Nevada's today, but they all came out of a tap. I will need to find a beer with a bottle soon to open.

  • I found a beer Thank God!

Well, I didn't get to work my last concert and pop open one of our Czech beers with this bug, 😟. However, I did take it on a trip to a city that I think will give it ample opportunity for much opening of many types of brews!

Grabbed this waaaay cool TB while checking on our client's cache! I bartend on the side and if someone orders our Czech beer this weekend, I'll pop it with the Yuengling opener! I'm also going to take it out West on a business trip to Reno and a side trip to San Francisco! Cheers!

Picked this bug up today. I added a Bell's Sparkling Ale bottle cap to the bag.
The following is taken from www.bellsbeer.com.
Kalamazoo (Michigan) Brewing Company, founded in 1983, sold its first beer in 1985. Originally brewing in a 15-gallon soup kettle, Kalamazoo Brewing has grown from a tiny operation renting part of a former plumbing supply warehouse, to a bustling, regional craft brewery that plays a role in changing the beerscape of our nation.
Although the micro-brewing, "craft brewing" revolution began on the West coast in the 1970s, the Midwest saw this brewing development much later. Kalamazoo Brewing Company stands as the oldest craft-brewer East of Boulder, Colorado. By 1989, K.B.C. was shipping over 500 barrels annually and assigned its first wholesaler, while continuing to establish itself across the State of Michigan. Soon venturing into Indiana and Chicago, K.B.C. had continued growth and its Bell's brands were soon known across the Midwest for their unique style and flavor. Kalamazoo Brewing has built a nationwide reputation as a creative and talented brewery.
