Dalrymple national park, where explored Leichhardt found a crossing of the mighty Burdekin river, near the mouth of Keelbottom creek, it was originally home to the town of dalrymple until it was destroyed by flood approx 4yrs later, In Conjunction with charters gold discovery, hence the township was abandoned.
