About This Item

Laura and I have hoped not to run into any creepy crawlers while on our Spring break 2024 in Australia, but we did. On the occasion of visiting this new continent, we decided to buy and release two TBs, which encapsulate our phobias and the possibly dangerous nature of this country. We hope these two will be traveling for a while around the continent (or region), and document some similar stories of other geocachers.

Laura's nope rope and Tommy's hairy legs are a snake and spider TB released in April 2024. We hope for these two TBs to travel the continent and gather stories and photos of the wildlife encounters (fun or scary) which this country has to offer. Hopefully, none too scary!

We hope to see many photos of the TBs' travels, and hope the two TBs can race against each other to see who travels further. Tommy's Hairy legs was dropped off first on April 14th at the countries' first robotic book retrieval library (with 1195km travled with us), while Laura's Nope Rope stayed with us for 2603.4km until April 16th, when it was left at the old Gippy TB hotel. We added 9 photos to is gallery and hope you can add some too! Safe travels!

Two unfortunate DNFs here while walking along the river in Melbourne. We had no idea howcome we were so blind!

Yesterday we came home pretty late after a nice evening in Melbourne. During the night, we passed this stash on our walk home but didn’t manage to figure out how to get it down.

Today however, we had a day in the city planned. Laura’s muggle friend Julia is who we came here to see, and for today she emptied her calendar to stay with us. We planned for a whole day in the city and started with this wonderful home (which we didn’t log yesterday) as we walked to the train station. With day light helping us quite a bit, we were not only able to spot the cache again, but this time also figured out how to ‘take it down’. It was a big joy and a very wonderful stash to behold, one where we left a FP without doubt. And with such a beautiful cache comes a goodbye and a hello. While we did keep you with us and we’re gonna keep traveling for a while, we did say goodbye to a TB we picked up in Singapore, and hello to a new friend we met here. Now our family is different again, but together we will continue traveling for a while! Let’s see what other caches we can visit in the city after this adorable cache in the suburbs of Melbourne!

This was a big shame. I said goodbye to the ladies so I could visit a bunch of T5s here in the area, but the ‘ferry’ was out for maintenance and so I wasn’t able to visit. What a big shame. I came so far and with no results…

After having a nice brief visit to Melbourne (where we didn’t unfortunately find any caches), we returned back home just before midnight. It would have been too tempting not to stop at any of the caches on the way to our house, so in the pitch dark night, we managed to find this cache.
By now, this TB was quite tired, but we’re glad we made it to this stash; one of two before hitting the hay!

After we returned back to Melbourne from our camping trip, we took a while to decompress but wanted to visit the city before we called it a day. And so going into town, we walked to the nearest cache on the way to the train station, and stopped by here for a quick visit. Found quickly with this TB by our side!

We had a great two night camping, but as our time is limited it was time for us to head back home.

After packing up in the morning, we headed back on the road and since we weren’t rushing to beat the rain this time, it meant we could make a couple more stops along the way back into Melbourne. We stopped at this stash to show it to this TB while on the road!
