This Cache can be collected as
an individual cache or as part of the circular Wellow Wood Nature
trail series. While the walk is very pleasant it can also get very
muddy after rain so walking boots or even Wellingtons are
recommended. And don’t forget to have a big breakfast
(see
GC1XTYN).
Next Cache:
Follow the farm track down the hill (Approx 0.1miles)
with the wood to your right. Note the ditch to the right and high
banks on ether side of you; this is part of the ancient Gorge Dyke
protecting the village of Wellow against attack. Leaving the wood
behind you head further South down the hill (Approx 480ft) with a
view of Jordan Castle Farm to your right. It is over by the farm
where the original Jordan Castle, fortified manor house once stood,
an ancient 13th century earth mound structure. The bank and ditch
can still be seen today however unfortunately there is no access to
this site without prior permission.
