Geocache Description:

Event is on
Saturday

Goal: To hike the first 29.7km of the Sydenham section of the Bruce Trail. The Sydenham section is a total of 168.4km in length.

This is the 18th Bruce Trail hike in this series of BT events. The total distance of the Sydenham section is 168.4km long and we will be hiking the first 29.7km of it to start this section of the Bruce Trail.

We plan on doing about 2 hikes a year in order to complete my goal of finishing the entire Bruce Trail on my 50th birthday.

If you can't make the entire hike, maybe join us for part of it. You can always drop out along the way if you feel it's too difficult or too long.

Meet at 10:00am at the posted coordinates, which is the 0km mark (Edition 27 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Sydenham section of the Bruce Trail which is where the trail crosses County Rd 12 (N44 29.998 W80 37.976). We plan to start hiking around 10:15am.

Destination is the 29.7km mark (Edition 27 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Sydenham section of the Bruce Trail which where the trail enters Bognor Marsh off of County Rd 18 (N44 32.301 W80 46.909).

Parking: Beginning: Off road parking on the east side of County Rd 12 at the start point of the hike. End: Parking lot at the entrance to Bognor Marsh off of County Rd 18 at the end point of the hike.
Hopefully some people will park at the end and carpool back to the starting point both before and after the hike. I plan on parking at the end point so I will need a ride to the beginning before the hike. It's about a 15 minute drive from the end point to the start point.

What you should bring: Water and other drinks. Food for lunch, dinner and snacks. GPS. Maps. Camera. Cell Phone. First Aid Kit. Advil/Tylenol.
It might be wise to stash some supplies at certain locations of your choice along the trail so that you don't have to carry everything with you.

Track our progress as we hike the trail. Don't feel up for the hike, then join us by watching our progress as we go along. Screen will update couple of minutes, but our progress will be updated every hour or so. Thanks to northerpenguin for setting this up.
