Geocache Description:

Back in the sands of time (2000-2001 to be precise), Geocaching had just started. A few brave pioneers set and placed a few caches during this first year, some of which have survived the eons........

This Cache IS at the the posted co-ordinates but to log this cache you must have logged (or placed or adopted) the majority (70%... so at the moment, choose 25 of the 36 to find) of the remaining Central and Eastern NC caches placed in the first year of geocaching and listed those in a bookmark list (or emailed me a list).

You will also find half of the North Carolina History Challenge: Final's co-ordinates in this Cache.

The listed difficulty is the for the work needed to find 25 statewide caches. I would rate this cache in isolation as about a 1.5 difficulty and a 2 terrain as it is a small hike of <0.2miles and has an interesting but easy bridge crossing. I have included parking (General Store) and trail head co-ordinates as child waypoints. Do not drive to the trail head, as there is a sign banning unauthorized vehicles. You are looking for a dirt trail down to the Haw River trail round back of the General Store.

Remember, to log this Challenge cache, you must have logged 25 of the 36 Eastern and Central caches placed in 2001 and listed in a bookmark list. When you have completed this, why not go the whole hog and complete the Western equivalent of this cache, and find the other half of the co-ordinates needed for the North Carolina Challenge: Final cache? In doing so you'll have found the majority of the remaining NC caches placed in 2000-2001!!! Hint: The History Final is within 10 miles of this East cache..

Congratulations to Cary Owl for FTF!

Long live the Queen! ;)
