Nova Gorica ali mesto vrtnic je znano kot mlado, sodobno in hitro razvijajoče se mesto ob italijanski meji z okoli 13.000 prebivalci (2022). Je trinajsto največje  mesto v Sloveniji in je regionalno središče Goriške statistične regije oziroma severne Primorske.
Mesto obdaja hribovje Sabotin, Sveta Gora in Škabrijel, gričevje Panovec in Kostanjevica ter reka Soča z ravnicami. Nova Gorica je bila ustanovljena leta 1947, ko je z določitvijo meje med Jugoslavijo in Italijo Gorica ostala na italijanskem ozemlju, Goriška brda, Spodnja Soška dolina in spodnja Vipavska dolina na jugoslovanski strani pa brez mestnega središča.

Urbanistično sodobno zasnovano mesto je parkovno urejeno, številne klopce vabijo k druženju pod krošnjami bogato raznovrstnih dreves. Med sprehodom po mestu lahko občudujemo stavbe, ki so jih zasnovali vodilni slovenski povojni arhitekti, in brezštevilne vrtnice, zasajene po vsem mestu, ki so prepoznaven mestni simbol. Lahko si privoščimo postanek v katerem od številnih lokalov. Vse je na dosegu, galerije, gledališče, mestna knjižnica, prostori za druženje, zabavo in sprostitev.

Le nekaj korakov stran od mestnega središča lahko obiščete številne kulturne znamenitosti. V bližnjem Solkanu lahko občudujete Solkanski most čez reko Sočo z največjim kamnitim lokom na železniških progah na svetu. Tam se nad Sočo, najlepšo slovensko reko, na eni strani dviga Sveta Gora, romarsko središče s slovito baziliko in samostanom, na drugem bregu reke pa se vzpenja Sabotin, kjer je urejen Park miru, posvečen bojem na Soški fronti v času prve svetovne vojne. Na drugi strani mesta z vzpetine vabi samostan Kostanjevica s Škrabčevo knjižnico in grobnico zadnjih potomcev francoske kraljeve rodbine Burboni. Na različnih lokacijah so na ogled muzejske zbirke Goriškega muzeja: Grad Kromberk, Vila Bartolomei in muzejska zbirka Kolodvor, ki je del Muzeja na meji. Posebna mestna znamenitost pa je Trg Evrope, ki leži na državni meji pred železniško postajo in je kot simbol somestja dveh Goric pogosto prizorišče različnih dogodkov. 

Nova Gorica, o la Città delle Rose, è conosciuta come una città giovane, moderna e in rapida evoluzione al confine italiano con circa 13.000 abitanti (2022). È la tredicesima città più grande della Slovenia ed è il centro regionale della regione statistica di Gorizia o Nord Primorska. La città è circondata dalle colline di Sabotin, Sveta Gora e Škabrijel, dai colli di Panovec e Kostanjevica e dal fiume Soča con le sue pianure. Nova Gorica fu fondata nel 1947 quando, con la determinazione del confine tra la Jugoslavia e l'Italia, Gorizia rimase sul territorio italiano, mentre Goriška Brda, la Valle Inferiore del Soča e la Valle di Vipava sul lato jugoslavo rimasero senza un centro urbano.

Questa città di design architettonicamente moderno è paesaggistica, con numerose panchine che invitano a socializzare sotto la chioma di una vasta varietà di alberi. Passeggiando per la città, è possibile ammirare edifici progettati dai principali architetti sloveni del dopoguerra e innumerevoli rose piantate in tutta la città, un simbolo riconoscibile della città. È possibile fare una pausa in uno dei molti locali. Tutto è a portata di mano: gallerie, teatro, biblioteca cittadina, spazi per socializzare, intrattenimento e relax.

A pochi passi dal centro della città, è possibile visitare numerosi luoghi d'interesse culturale. Nella vicina Solkan, è possibile ammirare il Ponte di Solkan sul fiume Soča con l'arco in pietra più grande del mondo sui binari ferroviari. Lì, affacciato sul Soča, il fiume più bello della Slovenia, da un lato si erge Sveta Gora, un centro di pellegrinaggio con una famosa basilica e monastero, e sull'altro lato del fiume si erge Sabotin, dove si trova il Parco della Pace dedicato alle battaglie sul fronte dell'Isonzo durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale. Dall'altro lato della città, dalla cima della collina, invita il monastero di Kostanjevica con la biblioteca di Škrabec e la tomba degli ultimi discendenti della famiglia reale borbonica francese. In varie località sono esposte le collezioni museali del Museo di Gorizia: il Castello di Kromberk, la Villa Bartolomei e la collezione museale di Kolodvor, che fa parte del Museo al confine. Una particolare attrazione della città è Piazza Europa, situata al confine di stato davanti alla stazione ferroviaria, spesso sede di vari eventi come simbolo delle due città gemelle di Gorizia.

Nova Gorica, or the City of Roses, is known as a young, modern, and rapidly developing city on the Italian border with about 13,000 inhabitants (2022). It is the thirteenth-largest city in Slovenia and the regional center of the Gorizia statistical region or North Primorska. The city is surrounded by the Sabotin, Sveta Gora, and Škabrijel hills, the Panovec and Kostanjevica hillocks, and the Soča river with its plains. Nova Gorica was founded in 1947 when, with the determination of the border between Yugoslavia and Italy, Gorizia remained on Italian territory, and Goriška Brda, the Lower Soča Valley, and the lower Vipava Valley on the Yugoslav side were left without an urban center.

This architecturally modern-designed city is landscaped with numerous benches inviting socializing under the canopy of a wide variety of trees. While strolling through the city, you can admire buildings designed by leading Slovenian post-war architects, and countless roses planted throughout the city, a recognizable city symbol. You can take a break in one of the many local places. Everything is within reach: galleries, theater, city library, spaces for socializing, entertainment, and relaxation.

Just a few steps away from the city center, you can visit numerous cultural landmarks. In nearby Solkan, you can admire the Solkan Bridge over the Soča river with the world's largest stone arch on railway tracks. There, overlooking the Soča, the most beautiful Slovenian river, on one side rises Sveta Gora, a pilgrimage center with a famous basilica and monastery, and on the other bank of the river rises Sabotin, where the Peace Park is dedicated to the battles on the Isonzo front during World War I. On the other side of the city, from the hilltop, the Kostanjevica monastery invites with Škrabec's library and the tomb of the last descendants of the French royal Bourbon family. Various locations display the museum collections of the Gorizia Museum: Kromberk Castle, Villa Bartolomei, and the Kolodvor museum collection, which is part of the Museum on the Border. A special city landmark is the Europe Square, located on the state border in front of the railway station, often a venue for various events as a symbol of the twin cities of the two Gorizias.

Nova Gorica oder die Stadt der Rosen ist als junge, moderne und sich rasch entwickelnde Stadt an der italienischen Grenze mit etwa 13.000 Einwohnern (2022) bekannt. Sie ist die dreizehntgrößte Stadt Sloweniens und das regionale Zentrum der statistischen Region Goriška bzw. Nord Primorska. Die Stadt wird von den Hügeln Sabotin, Sveta Gora und Škabrijel, den Hügelketten Panovec und Kostanjevica und dem Fluss Soča mit seinen Ebenen umgeben. Nova Gorica wurde 1947 gegründet, als nach der Festlegung der Grenze zwischen Jugoslawien und Italien Gorizia auf italienischem Gebiet verblieb und Goriška Brda, das untere Soča-Tal und das untere Vipava-Tal auf jugoslawischer Seite ohne städtisches Zentrum blieben.

Diese architektonisch modern gestaltete Stadt ist landschaftlich geprägt, mit zahlreichen Bänken, die zum geselligen Beisammensein unter dem Blätterdach verschiedenster Bäume einladen. Beim Bummeln durch die Stadt können Sie Gebäude bewundern, die von führenden slowenischen Nachkriegsarchitekten entworfen wurden, sowie unzählige in der ganzen Stadt gepflanzte Rosen, ein erkennbares Stadtsymbol. Sie können in einem der vielen Lokale eine Pause einlegen. Alles ist in Reichweite: Galerien, Theater, Stadtbibliothek, Treffpunkte, Unterhaltung und Entspannung.

Nur wenige Schritte vom Stadtzentrum entfernt können Sie zahlreiche kulturelle Sehenswürdigkeiten besuchen. Im nahegelegenen Solkan können Sie die Solkan-Brücke über den Fluss Soča bewundern, die den größten Steinbogen auf Eisenbahnstrecken weltweit hat. Dort erhebt sich über der Soča, dem schönsten slowenischen Fluss, auf der einen Seite Sveta Gora, ein Wallfahrtszentrum mit einer berühmten Basilika und Kloster, und auf der anderen Flussseite Sabotin, wo der Friedenspark den Kämpfen an der Isonzo-Front im Ersten Weltkrieg gewidmet ist. Auf der anderen Seite der Stadt lockt vom Hügel aus das Kloster Kostanjevica mit Škrabce's Bibliothek und dem Grab der letzten Nachkommen der französischen königlichen Bourbonen-Familie. An verschiedenen Orten werden die Museumssammlungen des Goriška-Museums gezeigt: Schloss Kromberk, Villa Bartolomei und die Museumssammlung Kolodvor, die Teil des Museums an der Grenze ist. Eine besondere Sehenswürdigkeit der Stadt ist der Platz Europa, der an der Staatsgrenze vor dem Bahnhof liegt und oft Schauplatz verschiedener Veranstaltungen ist, als Symbol der Zwillingsstädte der beiden Gorizias.
