Air Traffic Control

This strange looking item is a belay control device that I collected during a brief flirtation with rock climbing. Its manufacturers named it “Air Traffic Control”. It’s meant to be used to control climbing ropes and protect climbers on the rock face and is called a belay device. Please take him to as many rock climbing locations as possible and photograph him there.
A note of caution though, don’t use it unless you have been properly trained in climbing techniques, it could prove dangerous if used wrongly.

So that's what this thing is! We wondered. It looked to us like it was part of something bigger but I guess not. Retrieved this from a place with a great view but no rocks to climb. Now I wish we had had this with us last weekend when we found Devils Canyon, GCKRX http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=8da88bb1-6a3b-4a9b-a844-4b5bf38edd90 That would have been a very fitting place for it to visit. I will see what I can come up with fairly soon as an interesting place for it to go.
