ITA - Salve Valentino, chiamata anche festa di Santo Valentino, è una ricorrenza dedicata agli innamorati e si celebra ogni anno il 14 febbraio. È nata come festa cristiana in onore di un martire cristiano di nome Valentino di Terni. Attraverso successive tradizioni popolari, è diventata una significativa celebrazione culturale, religiosa e commerciale del romanticismo e dell'amore in molte nazioni del mondo.

I simboli di San Valentino usati oggi includono il contorno a forma di cuore, il cioccolato, le colombe e la figura di Cupido. In Italia, le chiavi di San Valentino vengono date agli innamorati come simbolo romantico e invito a sbloccare il cuore del donatore, così come ai bambini per scongiurare l'epilessia, chiamata la "malattia di San Valentino".

Il giorno di San Valentino non è un giorno festivo in nessun paese, sebbene sia un giorno di festa ufficiale nella Comunione anglicana e nella Chiesa luterana.

Symbols of Valentine's Day used today include the heart-shaped outline, chocolate, doves and the figure of Cupid. In Italy, Valentine's Day keys are given to lovers as a romantic symbol and invitation to unlock the donor heart, as well as to children to ward off epilepsy, called "Valentine's disease".
Valentine's Day is not a public holiday in any country, although it is an official holiday in the Anglican Communion and the Lutheran Church.
