Emmett's Wild Adventure Epilogue - Owner's Tips Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of Emmett's Wild Adventure Epilogue - Owner's Tips to find out about the status of this cache on August 31, 2009. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me via ma.reviewer@gmail.com to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

This is a final addition to the EWA series intended to provide some help for new cachers interested in the completing the series and/or to help more experienced cachers progress more quickly.

About the EWA series

The EWA series is comprised of nine basic caches, plus a bonus cache, and an Epilogue cache that was published last to offer additional help and tips for those interested in completing the series.

All of the EWA caches have been set up uniquely to allow for some extra fun and/or something different at the beginning. In general, there are two ways to complete each cache and you get to choose which option you think you will enjoy the most.

Those who complete the series will have visited a wide assortment of trails and terrain while finding micros and containers of all different types. It is hoped that the series will serve as a fine introduction for newcomers yet still hold the interest of veteran cachers with some twists and turns not commonly found in more traditional hunts.

For maximum enjoyment, it is strongly advised you consider the impact seasonal changes will have on some hunts. All of the EWA locales are spots that are very nice at certain times of the year, but not necessarily all year round. Make the best of the EWA collection by planning your visits at the optimal times. This is explained in more detail with the “Owners Tips” provided in the Epilogue cache.

About the “Owner’s Tips”

The Epilogue cache contains a sheet titled “Owner’s Tips” that will help you solve the EWA puzzles and offers recommendations regarding the two options each EWA cache presents once you get to the woods. Additionally, the Owner’s Tips will provide details about the various online “tools” that are useful for geocaching in general and for the EWA caches more specifically.

Some of the EWA locales pose different advantages and disadvantages depending on the time of year visited. The “tips” include suggestions on how to get the most enjoyment out of the series by planning to hike the various EWA sites during optimal seasons.

The “tips” are primarily intended for new cachers so the series won’t seem too daunting. Experienced cachers may use them simply to save time.

About EWA-Epilogue

EWA-Epilogue is a two stage hunt with a stage one micro hidden close to the trail that contains coordinates and a hint for stage two, the final cache.

To find the Epilogue cache you may either use the puzzle option below or find the EWA Travel Bug. The puzzle invites you to find or revisit some highly rated multi caches in order to determine the location of EWA-Epilogue stage one. The travel bug (visit link) contains a micro hide hint along with precise coordinates to stage one, allowing you to bypass the puzzle option. It’s an EWA cache, so you get to choose which option you think you will enjoy the most.

The puzzle

With the EWA Series coming to a close, it’s time to pay tribute to some of the very nice caches in our area and beyond. Below is a list of several multi caches deemed Emmett favorites, with a brief note along with the bearing from the final stage of these favorite caches to EWA stage one.

To find EWA-Epilogue using the puzzle option, you’ll need to either find or revisit at least two of these multis and use the bearings provided below to determine the location of stage one.

Favorite Multi caches

LOST on Pine Point (visit link)
What a great cache!!! Very nice scenery, well placed micros, a most interesting payoff, and coordinates that were dead on.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 35.763 degrees

The Predator Cache (visit link)
Nothing out of the ordinary in the scenery department but many have walked away raving about this cache. Pay a visit and see for yourself.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 107.505 degrees

Heron Hideaway (visit link)
Great area for a cache and it had to be a multi to allow a full tour of the various interesting terrain. I don't imagine any other cache with a walk this short could offer such variety.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 104.641 degrees

Something for Everyone (visit link)
A very well done multi in a scenic area with creative micros, and a nice stash.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 144.514 degrees

Lake Whitehall Tour 2 II (visit link)
A mix of lakeside scenery followed by a nice trip into the woods, and when you’re done, you’ll be positioned nicely to find several other caches if you want to make a longer day of it.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 23.256 degrees

Trivial Trail Pursuit .... NOT! (visit link)
Technically this is a puzzle cache, but it plays more like a multi with a twist. Enjoyed the concept, the nicely placed micros, and the woods. I was uncertain of the correct answer to all three trivia questions and that actually added to the fun.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 84.616 degrees

Spruce Point (visit link)
Have to say this rates as a perfect multi. Challenging but not impossible micros with hiking in wooded areas and by the water. A very nice hour-long hike!

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 90.103 degrees

Walkabit More (visit link)
This is a marathon cache both in terms of distance and the number of stages. If you are up for a long trek, this is well worth a visit. It is a truly fitting major milestone cache.

Bearing to EWA-Epilogue stage one – 23.736 degrees

About the EWA-Epilogue locale

This hunt involves a modest, loop hike over mostly level terrain. The area is suitable for easy biking, with the exception of the area immediately surrounding the final cache.

Designated parking is by a trailhead in a public area, west of stage one. No trail map is available but the stages have been set up to make navigational choices pretty straightforward.

From the parking area, head east and take the first trail on the right for the most direct access to stage one, hidden at the base of four dead trees a few feet right of the trail. Once you have found the final cache, you can complete the loop by navigating directly back to the parking area on a trail that should be visible just a short distance west of stage two.
