Took my daughter and two G-kids to Sagawau, not for the canyon tour, but a summer program field trip "Botanizing in the Canyon", learning about some of the plants found only in the canyon. It was a beautiful day for a walk in the canyon. TFTEC!

A great day for a walk in the woods. G-kid Bunny B agreed. I brought her here because niether of us have ever been to this spot before, and it's an earth cache... on Earthcache Day! Made our observations and headed to our other reason we came out this way today, a virtual cache.
Hey Earl, looks like you beat us to the punch today, I thought those footprints in the mud looked familiar.

We took the Red Line here this morning, and after a visit to Holy Name Cathedral we walked over here to the Old Water Tower for this earthcache. In doing so we got up close and personal with the famous landmark, and recorded our geologicache answers from our observations. What cool refreshing weather we had this morning! All of this adds up to a fav point. TFTEC!

I walked by and checked on the cache today. It was right where it was supposed to be, but not covered well. Not only did it survive a recent controlled burn, it also survived this weekends deluge. The log sheet was clean and dry! I put it back right where it was, but covered it with a stick.
There's been no activity here for a very long time! So I may archive it soon. But not before Earth Day, only a week away!

  • trail's a little wet

This multi was high on our "must do" list. I know a couple in Italy right now that would love to be here doing this one with us, but they're in Italy right now.

The method of getting the coordinate numbers was very simple and straight forward, but on paper in the cemetery my letters and numbers and names started jumping around,πŸ˜› so in order to keep things in order, I had to be very deliberate and focused .
So I was, and when I finally had final coordinates, they took us right to the cache. 😁

Thanks Kirk, for another great multicache!

  • SPOILER! mighty big tree for a tiny little cache
Visited 10/22/2017 sunnyside7 took it to King's (Cache) Quest - Chapter 15 Illinois - 2.73 miles  Visit Log

FINAL-ly! After six years of waiting, we're heading for the castle!😎 We started todays campaign at Kings(Cache)Quest #14. All the other chapters were written in 2011. Are we really about to finish this awesome cache series ❔

There was a very light drizzle on our way along the trail. It did not dampen our spirits, we were on a mission. Soon we got to the edge of the ridge, and stormed the castle. My Gardenlady took out her tablet and snapped some photos. The view was breathtaking. We could see most all of the Kingdom of Daventry and beyond!πŸ‘

Hungry for power, I went out in search of the fabled hidden cache that would grant kingship to the finder.πŸ˜‰ I disappeared into the woods. I wasn't about to return empty handed. I found the cache and triumphantly brought it back to the castle, where we assured our place in history by signing the log book. πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

My hat goes off to the cache owner for all the time, thought and effort put into the making of this exceptional cache series.

Our quest finally completed, we headed for the lodge to partake in a celebratory dinner. We didn't spot any eagles on our way to Eagle Ridge, but we did run into a couple of turkeys on the road.

(I have no idea what made me order a turkey and bacon sandwich, we didn't see any pigs on the wayπŸ˜‰After the feast we headed for our final destination of the day, Hawk Valley, where we did see several hawks on the way. 😎

  • We're here! Looking out over the Kingdom of Daventry
  • which way is Groudspeak from here?
  • The queen and her castle
  • who's going to sweep the floor?
  • oh yeah! We da king and queen!
  • To all the Daventryites out there...
  • Let them eat turkey!
