Visited 3/8/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to No Diving Tasmania, Australia - 14.21 miles  Visit Log

    No Diving
Arrived at No Diving and, for once in my life, I actually followed the instructions. The waterside platform is lovely, but I opted for the 'dry land' method of caching rather than the 'unexpected polar plunge' method. Found the little stowaway hiding right where it shouldn't be (but actually should be). My shoes are dry, and my smiley is secured.

Visited 3/8/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to From Sea Cave to Blowhole to Arch Tasmania, Australia - 18.87 miles  Visit Log

Heading down to Dover, Franklin, Huonville and Cygnet for some more adventure, sightseeing, and a drink of Apple Cider from one of the distilleries. Stopped by the earthcache From Sea Cave to Blowhole to Arch on the way.

Visited 3/8/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to GPS Adventure Maze Down Under - Sorell Tasmania, Australia - 18.41 miles  Visit Log

GPS Adventure Maze Down Under – Sorell
I entered the GPS Adventure Maze Down Under – Sorell as a mere mortal and emerged as a master of triangulation. I spent so much time wandering between the information-packed rooms that I’m now 80% certain I can navigate by the stars alone. A fantastic tribute to our nerdy hobby. Found all the answers without having to call for a search and rescue team. Success!

Visited 3/7/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to Journey series #1 Tasmania, Australia - .19 miles  Visit Log

The adventure begins at Journey series #1 near the Hobart Airport. Most people arrive at the airport and head straight for a rental car or a coffee, but I have my priorities straight: I’m here for the plastic. It’s a bit surreal to be hunting for treasure while giant metal birds scream overhead, but it certainly beats sitting in a departure lounge. This first instalment of the journey was a perfect introduction to the local terrain—not too difficult, but enough of a challenge to make me feel like I’ve earned my explorer status for the day. Cache located, logbook graced with my ink, and the journey continues!

Visited 3/7/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to Journey series #2 Tasmania, Australia - 15.45 miles  Visit Log

Making my way through Journey series #2 near the Hobart Airport. This is the 'Empire Strikes Back' of the series—essential, slightly more intense, and full of character. There’s a certain thrill in geocaching within earshot of jet engines; it adds a cinematic tension to the search, as if I’m on a secret mission that must be completed before the next 737 touches down. I’m starting to recognize the local flora on a first-name basis now. The cache was exactly where my GPS insisted it would be, despite my own momentary doubts. One more to go in this airport-adjacent odyssey. Signed and moving on!

Visited 3/7/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to Journey series #3 Tasmania, Australia - 1.12 miles  Visit Log

Rounding out the trilogy at Journey series #3 near the Hobart Airport. By this stage of the 'Journey,' I’ve spent more time in the vicinity of the runway than most of the ground crew, yet I still haven't been offered a complimentary bag of peanuts. This particular stage felt like the grand finale of a very localized road movie. I navigated the terrain with the grace of a startled wallaby, dodging the curious stares of passing tourists who were clearly wondering why I was so interested in a specific patch of greenery. Found the cache tucked away like a hidden passport. A great conclusion to a well-placed series!

Visited 3/7/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to PittStop Tasmania, Australia - 16.16 miles  Visit Log

Pulled over for a quick PittStop near the Hobart Airport, and I must say, it’s much more entertaining than a standard petrol station visit. This cache is perfectly positioned for those of us who can't pass an airport without checking our 'Nearby' list. It’s a clever little find that rewards the observant eye. I managed to avoid looking too much like a roadside hitchhiker while I made the grab, though I suspect a few drivers thought I’d lost my hubcaps. Everything was in tip-top shape, much like a well-oiled Formula 1 car. Quick find, signed the log, and back on the road!

Visited 3/7/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to Abel Tasman at Salamanca Virtual Tasmania, Australia - 5.61 miles  Visit Log

    Abel Tasman at Salamanca Virtual
In an effort to prove that I’m more than just a person following a dancing arrow on a screen, I made a pilgrimage to Abel Tasman at Salamanca Virtual. I stood before the bronze explorer himself, attempting to look as rugged and discovery-oriented as he does, though I suspect he had fewer flight delays and better hair. The sculpture and fountain are a fantastic tribute to Tassie's Dutch roots, even if Abel looks a bit suspicious of the nearby crowds.
To fulfil the 'Tasmanian connection' logging requirement, I brought along my most prized local discovery: a deep appreciation for Hobart's hospitality – it’s in my (Tasmanian) blood. After paying my respects to the ships in the fountain, I navigated a daring expedition (roughly 200 meters) to the nearby Irish Murphy's. There, I successfully sourced a glass of 'Dubliner' Honeycomb Irish Whisky. It turns out that while Abel was discovering land, I was discovering that honeycomb and whisky are the ultimate reward for virtual exploration. One provides the history, the other provides the 'spirit.' A perfect evening in Salamanca! TFTV!"

Visited 3/7/2026 Throsbyonchurch took it to [EC-121] So many red rocks... Tasmania, Australia - .96 miles  Visit Log

Took the easy route today and stopped by to admire the numerous red rocks of the earthcache [EC-121] So many red rocks.... It is impressive how the iron concentration gives the riverbed such a distinct orange-red hue, and seeing the waterfalls eroding the layers up close was the highlight of the visit. It’s a peaceful spot that doesn't require a massive trek to enjoy some great local geology.
