Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at posted coords.
You have some work to do prior to your search.
Cache is within 5 miles of the posted coords. But some of the caches you need to log are a lot further then that.

The Rank of Eagle Scout
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). A Scout who attains this rank is called an Eagle Scout or Eagle. Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than 2 million young men. The title of Eagle Scout is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle".

Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit through the Boy Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout. Additional recognition can be earned through Eagle Palms, awarded for completing additional tenure, leadership, and merit badge requirements.

The Series
We tried to make the series as winter friendly as possible, This one is not the same type of hide. So I would say it is NOT winter friendly. Each rank gets harder then the last just like the ranks themselves.
Some preplanning, time management and of course "Being Prepared" are skills you need to help complete the series.

This series was obviously based on our sons adventure through Scouting. Once he progressed from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts he was finally in control on his advancement and set a goal for each rank. His goal for Eagle was a challenge but he strived towards it none the less. We are proud to say he met his goal with nine days to spare. He sat in on his Eagle Board of Review just prior to his fifteenth birthday.
Like all Eagle Scouts an "Eagle Scout Court of Honor" was planned to celebrate. If you ever have a chance to attend one, you should. After Earning his Eagle Rank he went on and earned Eagle Palms, but we will get more into that later.

The cache Placement

I asked our son where was his favorite hikes and here are his answers.
  1. Mount Phillips in New Mexico where we hiked about 100 miles.
  2. Mount Mansfield in Vermont where we took part in a First Class Trek.
  3. Mount Monadnock: The third favorite was a bit closer then his first ones so we decided to go for another visit and hide this cache. The first time we were there with the Scouts he and his buddy were teaching younger scouts the skills of map and compass and hiking skills. I believe he was only 12 at the time.

Please "BE PREPARED" as you search for this cache. Please plan on a 6 hour day hiking some moderate to difficult areas. Bring plenty of water and other safety gear with you. It is always better to be safe then sorry.

The puzzle for Waypoint One
