All aboard!

Have you ever had a geocache take you on tour to locations with spectacular views and unforgettable experiences? How about from the comfort of a fast-moving passenger train?

This geocache will forever be stationed in your memory because it has all the above! It’s time to stay on track for our Geocache of the Week, Šarganska Osmica (GC6RXVP).

To achieve this four-stage Multi-Cache, you will travel by train or car through the beautiful Serbian countryside. The train is highly recommended (at a small cost), as it affords astounding views only visible from the railway lines. Be sure to prepare for your journey well in advance!

As you admire the locations along the way, gear yourself to search quickly during each 15-minute stop. The train is on a strict schedule, so you should be too!

As you wait onboard, be sure to read the cache page for information on The Shargan Eight, the historic railway below you. Before you know it, the first stop on your list of waypoints fast approaches—get ready!

You have about 15 minutes to find the necessary information—be it information from an informative brochure, or counting windows at one of the stations—to solve for your final coordinates. You succeed at the first stop, but will the next two be just as easy?

As the hours of your expedition roll on, you grab each waypoint successfully, knowing that time is of the essence. Finally, you found each clue to solve for the elusive final coordinates—it appears to be on one of the stops, but which one?

Take a moment to sit and breathe in and enjoy the expansive rolling hills that you see in front of you. You came here for the geocache, but the incredible sights are really what makes this caching experience a winner.

Finally, well-rested and nourished by the beauty of nature, you’re ready to make the find. You have no trouble as you follow the hint and soon have the cache in hand! The final waypoints take you to the center of a lush forest, so you are surrounded by extensive greenery and bird chirps as you sign your name.

You ponder your experience for a few moments and reminisce on the trip that brought you here. Though seeing your username inked on the logbook alongside dozens of other geocachers is a wonderful feeling, your mind returns to one thought: geocaching really is about the journey, not the destination.
