For many of us, 2020 has thrown our plans into a tailspin. With travel still restricted in many areas, our plans to have geocaching adventures away from home may have been canceled or delayed. Now is a great time to dream about the geocaching adventures still to come.

We’ve compiled a list of geocaching daydreams that appeal to every type of geocaching dreamer. Sit back and give yourself permission to let your mind wander to parts unknown.

Close your eyes and hear the sound of waves crashing on the shore. Envision the crystal clear waters of Nai Harn Beach in Phuket, Thailand. Green hills surround the beach, contrasting with the white sand and blue waters. Sample the local cuisine at one of the many nearby restaurants Nai Harn is known for. Then, observe the boats anchored in the bay as you head to GC7G4FK. In order to log this EarthCache, you must learn about the process and effects of erosion. Send your answers and log your smiley. Then spread out your towel on the white sand and bask in the sun and the thrill of a smiley!

Does your ideal geocaching outing take you to the mountains? We have you covered! Let this daydream lead you to Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. Feel the weight of your daypack and the GPS in your hand as your sturdy hiking boots lead you through lush forests and clear streams. As you ascend to the final destination of the Mirador Las Torres hike, take in the stunning view of the “torres” or towering spears of granite looming over a turquoise lake. The coordinates of GC3RT6A lead you to a large rock where you will locate the container. Snap a picture of this glorious Patagonia must-do to include with your log!

You love being surrounded by nature, but sometimes urban caching leads to delights just as exciting. Visualize the world-famous harbour and surfing beaches of Sydney, Australia. You hear the sounds of musicians as you walk Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour’s transportation hub, and marvel at the collection of boats, ferries, and maybe a cruise ship! Navigate to GCKKTY and show off your stealth skills as you locate the container and log. After a quick signature, hop on a ferry to Manly Beach. Stare at the beautiful sunset over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and celebrate another smiley on the map!

Maybe you have geocached at the beach, the mountains, the city…but have you geocached with nothing around but rolling sand dunes? Take a deep breath and imagine a geocaching journey to Erg Chebbi in Morocco. Instead of open seas of rippling blue water, you are surrounded by an open sea of rippled sand dunes. The EarthCache GC876F7 explains how these ripples develop. Take in the simplicity of the clear blue sky meeting the rippled sand as you consider the forces behind them. Then, hold up your GPS and snap a photo – already excited to log your first desert find!
