As per Groundspeak guidelines the actual event takes place from 10am-10:30am at the posted coordinates. The hike activity will start at 10:30am for those that are interested.
Goal: To hike the first 31.6km of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail. The Peninsula section is a total of 165.1km in length.
This is the 23rd Bruce Trail hike in this series of BT events. The total distance of the Peninsula section is 165.1km long and we will be hiking the first 31.6km of it to Start this section of the Bruce Trail.
My plan is to complete my goal of finishing the entire Bruce Trail on my 50th birthday (last hike will be a Thursday in August, 2017).
If you can't make the entire hike, maybe join us for part of it. You can always drop out along the way if you feel it's too difficult or too long.
Meet at 10am at the posted coordinates, which is the 0.0km mark (Edition 28 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail which is in the parking lot of Bluewater Park (N44 44.530 W81 08.083). This point marks the start of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail.. We plan to start hiking around 10:30am.
Destination is the 31.6km mark (Edition 28 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail which is along Park Rd somewhere before the entrance to the camp ground (N44 53.421 W81 05.323).
Parking: Beginning: Plenty of parking in the parking lot of Bluewater Park. End: Roadside parking along Park Rd somewhere before the entrance to the camp ground.
Hopefully some people will park at the end and carpool back to the starting point both before and after the hike. It's about a 25 minute drive from the end point to the start point.
What you should bring: Water and other drinks. Food for lunch, dinner and snacks. GPS. Maps. Camera. Cell Phone. First Aid Kit. Pain Killers. Flashlight. Extra Batteries.
It might be wise to stash some supplies at certain locations of your choice along the trail so that you don't have to carry everything with you.
