Geocache Description:

Event is on
Saturday
Meet, greet, prepare: 10:15am - 10:45am
Hike: 10:45am - 8pm

As per Groundspeak guidelines the main event takes place from 10:15am-10:45am at the posted coordinates. The hike activity will start at 10:45am for those that are interested.

Goal: To hike the next 28.6km of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail. The Peninsula section is a total of 165.1km in length.

This is the 24th Bruce Trail hike in this series of BT events. My plan is to complete my goal of finishing the entire Bruce Trail on my 50th birthday (last hike will be a Thursday in August, 2017).

If you can't make the entire hike, maybe join us for part of it. You can always drop out along the way if you feel it's too difficult or too long. Or just meet at at the beginning to say hi and see us off.

Meet at 10:15am at the posted coordinates, which is the 31.6km mark (Edition 28 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail which is along Park Rd somewhere before the entrance to the camp ground (N44 53.421 W81 05.323). We plan to start hiking around 10:45am.

Destination is the 60.2km mark (Edition 28 of Bruce Trail guide) of the Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail which is at the corner of Rush Cove Rd and Scenic Caves Rd (N44 56.681 W81 09.904).

Parking: Beginning: Roadside parking along Park Rd somewhere before the entrance to the camp ground. End: Roadside parking along Richardson Rd (South of Scenic Caves Rd). Parking is not allowed on Scenic Caves Rd or Rush Cove Rd.
Hopefully some people will park at the end and carpool back to the starting point both before and after the hike. It's about a 20 minute drive from the end point to the start point.

What you should bring: Water and other drinks. Food for lunch, dinner and snacks. GPS. Maps. Camera. Cell Phone. First Aid Kit. Pain Killers. Flashlight. Extra Batteries.
It might be wise to stash some supplies at certain locations of your choice along the trail so that you don't have to carry everything with you.

Badges: Those of us that complete this hike along with the other hikes in the Peninsula section will qualify for the Peninsula End To End badge for hiking the entire Peninsula Section of the Bruce Trail. For more information and to obtain a badge, see this Peninsula Bruce Trail Club link.
