Geocache Description:

Sixteenth in the Ring Quest series.

This is the sixteenth cache of Ring Quest, a twenty-cache series inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

For more information about this series, see the description for the first cache:
Ring Quest I: The Nine: Black Riders.

Ring Quest XVI: The Seven: Longbeards

The most famous of the seven Dwarven clans are the Longbeards (Sigin-tarâg in Khuzdûl), about whom Tolkien wrote the most. Also known as Durin's Folk, their first king was Durin, one of the seven Fathers of the Dwarves. When Men first migrated west into Rhovanion and Eriador they encountered Durin's Folk. The Longbeards, wisest and most farseeing of the seven kindreds, began dealing with Men and adopted their speech, keeping their own language to themselves. Gimli, who accompanied Frodo as part of the Fellowship of the Ring, was from the Longbeard clan, as was Thorin.

DO NOT PARK ON INTERSTATE 20!! To do so at this location is not only illegal, but suicidal. Moreover, due to very thick brush, the cache must be approached from the south.

Park at the suggested parking coordinates under the bridge, on the west side of the road. Hike west until directly south of the cache, then climb the hill to reach it. The terrain for this cache is the most challenging of the series, with thorns and poison ivy to avoid and potentially some muddy spots to navigate, in addition to some steep areas. Wear sturdy shoes and bring some water!

The cache is located in a thicket with one way in, on the south side. It has room for trade swag and contains information you will need to find the final cache of the One Ring, written in letters from the Dwarvish alphabet, so remember to bring something to make notes!
