Eleventh in the Ring Quest series.


This is the eleventh cache of Ring Quest, a twenty-cache series inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

Ring Quest XI: The Seven: Broadbeams

The Broadbeams were a tribe of Dwarves from the Blue Mountains. Although Tolkien himself provided few details about them, some say they were known as the greatest armoursmiths of all Dwarves. It's also believed that, unlike most Dwarves, they ate three full meals a day and were known to drink large amounts of ale while eating. Accordingly, as their name implies, they were generally especially heavy, and it's said that quite a number of Broadbeams died before their natural age expectancy due to corpulence.

From the suggested parking location it will take some fairly steep climbing to reach this cache, but there are plenty of hand-holds to grab. You can approach from the south instead, which requires less of a climb but more walking from wherever you find to park.

You are looking for a small container five or six feet above ground-level, which will not be visible but is hidden in a likely spot. In addition to a log book, the cache contains information required in order to find the One Ring. Be sure to bring something to record the values of the enclosed variables (which are written in Tolkien’s Dwarvish alphabet).
