Our favorite gear for geocaching with your dog

Geocaching with your dog can require a little more planning, a bit of patience, and a few additional supplies—but in our opinion, the extra work is worth the reward of having your geo-pup alongside your adventures! While the amount of supplies and prep varies depending on the outing, we’re sharing four of our go-to pieces of gear to make sure our dogs stay happy, healthy, and safe on the geo-trail.

Travel Dog Bowl
You probably already know it’s essential to bring food and water for your pup, and this travel dog bowl is the perfect item to complete the trifecta. This collapsible bowl is light, easy to pack up and carry, and works well on the trail or uneven terrain. For water, we suggest packing a reusable water bottle (like this one) and refilling it as needed depending on how long you’ll be adventuring.

First aid kit
When geocaching with your dog, it’s always best to come prepared, which is why we like to bring along a first aid kit. Many of the items that come in a regular first aid kit can be used for your pet too, but we like to add in a few extra pet-specific items such as animal bandages and any medications our furry friends might already be on or need.

Travel towel
A microfiber travel towel is a great TOTT (Tool of the trade) regardless of pet ownership but it’s uses increase exponentially once you’ve got a muddy fur friend by your side! From wiping down paws to cleaning up food or water spills, or drying your travel dog bowl, these towels are quick-drying and compact.

Log My Dog Tag
Make your dog trackable with this fun Log My Dog tag! This one is just for fun and we may be biased, but these are one of our favorite trackables to discover! Designed to withstand the extra wear and tear from life on a collar, these tags can be engraved with your geo-pup’s name and/or your contact information for safety.
