Tipo de enigma - acertijo de campo: La intención de este cache es que recorras la ruta indicada buscando las letras necesarias para revelar las coordenadas finales.
Este cache pertenece a una serie informal de caches en Andalucía, que fue impulsada por el geocacher MPijuan en Sevilla (GC860PV) y Córdoba (GC85210, y su hermana menor GC93WPZ). Otros caches andaluces de la serie se encuentran en Almería (GC8FYTN) y Torremolinos (GC95DJE), y este último cache contiene una interesante historia de la publicidad neón y su uso en España.
Fuera de Andalucía hay caches parecidos en Alicante (GC8KF2D) y Las Arenas (Bilbao; GC6ZZEX), y en la descripción de los cachés de Sevilla y Córdoba MPijuan afirma que la idea la tomó de cachés similares de Madrid (GC6DXCB) y Barcelona (GC80AFH) que a su vez se inspiraron en otros cachés en Bruselas (GC5M5MG), Bratislava (GC3V44J) y Bristol (GC17M68), siendo este último caché probablemente el más antiguo de la serie, ya que se colocó en noviembre de 2007.
El cache requiere que camines por la ruta que se muestra en el mapa de abajo, una distancia de aproximadamente 1.3Km, preferiblemente de noche, buscando los carteles que contienen las letras que aparecen en la foto de arriba. Se puede hacer solo, pero es más fácil de resolver en grupo y es una buena actividad/desafío para niños.
El paseo: La ruta comienza en la estación de metro de C/ Recogidas. Desde allí continúa hasta Puerta Real, pasando por muchos comercios en el camino, antes de girar a la derecha en C/ Acera del Darro. Finalmente, recorre toda la extensión de la Carrera de la Virgen, una calle ancha con un paseo peatonal en el centro y comercios a ambos lados. Las letras no están en orden, por lo que da igual por dónde comenzar el recorrido, pero sí realizarlo en su totalidad.
Las letras: Cada letra se ha tomado de carteles de los comercios que se encuentran a lo largo de la ruta. Debes identificar 14 nombres comercios diferentes iluminados, uno para cada una de las letras en la imagen de arriba. Presta mucha atención tanto al color como a la forma de las letras para asegurar identificar los nombres comercios correctos. Para ayudarte en la búsqueda:
- Los nombres comercios genéricos, por ejemplo, “Bar” o “Panadería” sin ninguna otra palabra en el nombre de la tieneda pueden ser ignorados, pero nombres más específicos, por ejemplo, “Panadería García” pueden contener las letras que buscas.
- Aunque es posible buscar las letras durante el día, ten en cuenta que al menos una de las letras cambia radicalmente de color una vez que se enciende su cartel, y es el color iluminado que aparece en la imagen arriba.
NOTE: Debido a la ley de ahorro energético que exige que las luces de los carteles se apaguen después de las 22h, algunos carteles ya no se encienden nunca. A pesar de esto, es posible identificar todas las letras por la noche prestando mucha atención a su forma, así como a cualquier detalle en el fondo de cada letra. También se puede encontrar todas las letras durante el día.
Solución: Toma la primera letra de cada palabra que contiene las letras de la foto de arriba y únelas para formar una contraseña de 14 letras (sin sentido). Por ejemplo, si la G de “Granada” viniera de “Panadería García” y la R de “Granada” viniera de “Farmacia Domingo”, las dos primeras letras de la contraseña serían “GF”.
Mete la contraseña de 14 letras en certitude usando mayúsculas y sin espacios.
Puedes validar la solución con certitude.

Interés Turístico:
Al final de la Carrera de la Virgen hay una gran fuente, que es el inicio de un amplio paseo peatonal arbolado llamado Paseo del Salón, y luego Paseo de la Bomba. Si solo has visto las calles estrechas del centro de Granada, esta zona puede ser un cambio agradable.

Cuando comencé con el geocaching, había muchos caches mistery ingeniosos en Granada, junto con muchos contenedores con camuflajes originales. Estos caches me sorprendieron, supusieron verdaderos desafíos y su resolución fue muy gratificante (aunque a veces necesitaba varios meses para resolver los enigmas). Ello hizo que me enganchara al geocaching. Lamentablemente, la mayoría de los propietarios de estos geocaches se han retirado del juego y la mayoría de sus caches ahora están archivados. La serie Granada Loves Puzzles (GLP) es mi intento de crear nuevos caches mistery en Granada del estilo que a mí más me gusta buscar.

Puzzle Type - Field Puzzle: The intention of this cache is that you walk the route indicated looking for the letters requires to derive the final coordinates.
This cache belongs to an unofficial series of caches in Andalusia that was instigated by geocacher MPijuan in Seville (GC860PV) and Córdoba (GC85210, and it's little sister GC93WPZ). Other Andalusian caches in the series are located in Almería (GC8FYTN) and Torremolinos (GC95DJE), with this latter cache containing an interesting history of neon lighting, and its use in Spain.
Outside of Andalusia there are similar caches in Alicante (GC8KF2D) and Las Arenas (Bilbao; GC6ZZEX), and in the description of the caches in Seville and Córdoba MPijuan states that he got the idea from similar caches in Madrid (GC6DXCB) and Barcelona (GC80AFH) which in turn were inspired by other caches in Brussels (GC5M5MG), Bratislava (GC3V44J), and Bristol (GC17M68), with this last cache probably being the oldest in the series, being placed in November 2007.
The cache requires you to walk the route shown on the map below, a distance of approximately 1.3Km, preferably at night, looking for the signs that contain the letters which appear in the photo at the top of the cache page. It can be done alone, but is easier to solve in a group, and is a good puzzle for kids.
Walking area: The route starts at the metro station in C/ Recogidas. From there it continues up to Puerta Real, passing many retail shops along the way, before turning right into C/ Acera del Darro. Finally, it passes along the entire length of Carrera de la Virgen, a wide street with a pedestrian boulevard in the middle and businesses either side. The letters are not located in the order shown above, and you can start anywhere along the route, and traverse it in any order, but you will need to cover the entire route to find all of the letters.
The letters: Each letter has been taken from a word that forms part of a business name along the route. You need to identify 14 different illuminated business names, one for each of the letters in the picture which appears at the top of the cache page. Paying close attention to both the colour and shape of the letters will help ensure that you identify the correct business names. To help you in the search:
- Generic business names, for example “Bar” or “Panadería” (Bread shop) which have no other word in the name of the shop can be ignored, but more specific names, for example “Panadería García” (Bread shop García) can contain the letters you are looking for.
- Although it is possible to look for the letters during the day, bear in mind that at least one of the letters radically changes colour once its sign is switched on, and it is the illuminated colour that appears in the image at the top of the cache page.
NOTE: Due to the energy saving initiative which requires lights in shop windows to be switched off after 10pm, some signs are not being switched on at all. It is still possible to identify all of the letters at night by paying close attention to their shape, as well as to any detail in the background of each letter. All letters can also be found during daylight hours.
Solution: Take the first letter of each word which contains the letters in the photo above and join them together to form a 14 letter (meaningless) password. For example, if the G of Granada came from “Panadería García” and the R of Granada came from “Farmacia Domingo”, the first two letters of the password would be “GF”.
Enter the 14 letter password into certitude using capital letters and no spaces.
You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Tourist Interest:
At the end of la Carrera de la Virgen there is a large fountain, which is the start of a wide tree lined pedestrian boulevard called Paseo del Salón, and then Paseo de la Bomba. If you have only seen the narrow streets in the centre of Granada, this area may be a pleasant change.

The difficulty rating of 4 is based both on the effort required to find the letters, as well as finding the cache itself.
When I first started geocaching, there were many ingenious puzzle caches in Granada, along with many containers with inventive camouflage. They were surprising, challenging and satisfying (despite the fact that sometimes I needed many months to solve some of the puzzles), and are what got me hooked on geocaching. Sadly, most of the owners of these geocaches have retired from the game and most of their caches are now archived. The Granada Loves Puzzles (GLP) series is my attempt to create some new puzzle caches in Granada in the style that I most enjoy finding.
